https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...wl-resume-make-los-angeles-clear-winners/amp/ Weird trade for the Panthers. Okung is 6 years older and missed 10 games last year, not to mention the Chargers offensive line as a whole couldn't protect Rivers. It's not even much of a salary dump. Turner only has two years left on his contract but I believe he's cuttable without a dead cap according to Spotrac. So they could've just cut him. Turner has been a Pro Bowler every year except his rookie year. This was basically a heist... Not a big fan of Rhule at all and this trade with him having total control was a horrible one.
This makes no sense at all for the Panthers, and increases the chances of Chargers taking one of the Tackles ahead of us....
I have it on good authority that the Panthers plan is to tank this year. They want to finish last so they can draft that long haired QB from Clemson next year. That's what this move was, a tank move. Look for more head scratching moves from them. Newton won't be back and I wouldn't draft that McCaffrey kid in your fantasy league cause if he even wakes up with a stiff neck once, they will IR him
Do you have some sort of insider information or is this just an educated hunch? It doesn't sound unrealistic. They might do the ol Gruden strip down. But why wouldn't they get something they can use for Trai Turner? Even if it's a 4th-5th round pick? There are a ton of teams that would've traded for him. The Jets included.
somewhat insider info yeah, not the GM or owner or anything, but yeah. they also aren't really trying to keep it a secret, basically spreading the plan to the whole league during the Senior bowl. now- whether they will be good at it or not, that's another question. Yeah, even tanking teams could get more trade value outta that guard
It's possible that McCaffrey gets traded. I've been seeing rumors to that extent. The Panthers are definitely going to do a complete rebuild, so they probably will be tanking.
I doubt they'll move him. He'll be 24 at the start of this season. They have two more years of team control. If you redshirt him this year with a broken fingernail IR designation you still have a year left on his deal and the franchise tag. Tank this year, re-sign him in the off-season to an extension for three years and let him go when he's 28 and enters the runningback graveyard.
