Yup. That's pretty much how most sports writing is these days and Rex Ryan got that treatment all last year. It's one of the oldest tactics in the book, quote mining. No matter what Rex actually says, he's saying whatever the media wants him to say.
I place less blame on the writers and similar sites and more on: a) the new age of Twitter and lazy ass news readers who think that they can understand complex stories in under 140 characters b) The people in charge of the sites(this may include Florio) who only care about hits and not the quality of the article btw...Florio is a huge douche

That's always been the case with reporters, twisting words to serve their own purpose. Thirty years ago Richard Todd shoved Steve Serby in a locker for doing exactly that. Before that Dick Young did everything he could to ruin Namath's reputation and dismissively called him "Joey Baby" in his column until he died. There are just more sources of morons now than there were years ago.
