It's almost like they didn't even bother checking the cultural climate and the only green they cared about was going into their bank accounts.
It could get ugly. I was reading about the crime there, they feast on tourists, those that flash shiny phones and wear obvious high fashion items. (which is like 100% of the NFL players). You can't keep 20-somethings away from the nightlife either no matter how hard the NFL will try
"You know, they said that the part of Brazil we're going to, you can't even wear green at," Jacobs said on Thursday's episode of Green Light with Chris Long. "They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff." "They probably gonna have, like, armored vehicles following us," Jacobs said. "I said, bro, Why are we out here? Why are we here?' "... I was looking forward to it. I'm like, man, this 'bout to be a fun week. Telling us all of that, they like, 'Yeah, nah, it's not gonna be like that.'" Wtf. The NFL has found a new way to jeopardize player (and fan) safety
This is over blown. As a soccer fan I need to chime in. Pussy NFL executives don't know this. Yes as soccer fans we die for our colors and hate the opposing colors but we know to respect the man wearing those colors. They are just like us passionate fans wearing different colors. I was in Istanbul 3 weeks ago. To watch my team Galatasaray play the arch rivals Fenerbahce for championship. I stayed at Conrad Hotel in Besiktas. Besiktas fans hate Galatsaray fans. I wore my Galatasaray jersey all day Sunday in Besiktas. A few friendly banters but no issues. I went to the game, came back to my hotel and still no attacks on me. Eagles and Packers fans will be fine. Geez. Such a stupid topic.
We're not talking about soccer fans, Brook, we are talking about murderous South American gangs that kill people for wearing the wrong color.
Downright stupid. As if gangs don't know the difference between football jerseys and wearing gang colors. This is stupid all the way around. NFL shouldn't host a game there if you can't even play with your uniform colors without having your life at risk. It makes no sense at all, gangs aren't going to give 1 crap about this. I hope this is bs.
LOL this is like a game of telephone (yes I'm old). It's not gangs. It's Corinthians and Palmeiras. Brook has it right. It's like, don't wear a Yankees cap to Fenway.
Never been to South America and I don't know the gang angle of course. What I meant was for simple soccer fans.
They probably missed the information upfront but I’m going to guess the multibillion dollar organization that is the NFL has credible information that says don’t wear green around these areas. And it goes a bit deeper than some soccer hooligans.
Turns out this is wrong. NFL isn't telling them they can't wear green and they aren't talking about gangs. If they did it, it would be out of respect to the Corinthians, not to a gang. At least one team will likely wear their greens.
