Had the last of what was left of the "best QB class ever" and traded up to land Lamar Jackson, built the team around hm like he always does and ended up turning him into the best QB out of that class. Lets hope no matter how bad things get--Joe Douglas learned well and can right this ship. One thing I know--we don't have our John Harbaugh
You know what I liked about this game so far? The pats get stuffed on opening drive against small nickel defense IMMEDIATELY on next drive switch to more run plays and no huddle granted didn’t work yet, but that’s COACHING You watching Adam? lol
I love Newsome and I love the way that franchise is run. I was praying for them to fire Harbaugh and for him to land with the Jets. But the Ravens know better. He’s a good coach.
Master of detail. It's not always about being an offensive specialist or a guy that calls the defense. Harbaugh is a special teams guru that lets his coaches coach and manages the players and the game correctly. I would've killed for him too. That's why I wanted Eric DeCosta from that organization but the Jets always have stupid stipulations for who we hire. Must trade Revis, must keep Rex, have to draft a 3-4 defensive lineman in the top 10 no matter what the team needs, etc.
It's not just Newsome. I'm watching a head coach who understands he has to adjust his scheme to the talent (Jackson) he was given, and not the other way around.
Jackson is lucky he was drafted by a organization that knows how to coach and build a team....if he was drafted by 30 other teams he would flame out in 3 years.
Didn't Newsome retire? I thought DeCosta was running the team now. (For the record, newsome is great)
He honestly still might flame out. He's great while he can do this, but he is eventually going to slow down and the beating he takes will catch up with him. He realistically takes as many hits as a runningback every given week. Look at the regression of Cam Newton as evidence of what happens to running quarterbacks who play with wreckless abandon. And Cam Newton is 50 pounds heavier than Jackson. I just hope for Jackson's sake, he learns to protect himself more as he gets older. Because he doesn't protect himself whatsoever and they call a bunch of QB draws in between the tackles.
AFAIK, DeCosta wasn't going anywhere. He was gonna be Ozzie's successor no matter what team wanted to interview him.
You're right. I just looked back and he turned down the interview request when we asked. He did endorse this staff we've hired though. Not that it really matters but it's nice to see. Peyton Manning also endorsed Jim Caldwell and Gase. The entire league thought Maccagnan was a good hire. Only time will tell. I like Douglas' background though and working for a winning organization for 15 years. https://www.google.com/amp/s/jetswi...e-ravens-gm-general-manager-eric-decosta/amp/
Lamar Jackson is starting to look like this generation's Randall Cunningham, but honestly, Cunningham was a freak so Jackson still has a long way to go. As to your point, though, Cunningham wouldn't survive one snap today. Cunningham was a pencil in comparison to Jackson as is Jackson to Newton so I definitely agree with you.
