whether it's the players...or Sutton....or Mangini....the bottom line is...the defense is hot garbage. Win or lose...we're in trouble.

The Jets need to bring in a coaching staff that can teach the fundamentals of winning and finishing games.

I'm sick of this....Buffalo scores 2 FG's over the past two weeks....and we give 27 points to them at the time of this post.....unacceptable.

I'm not defensive mastermind by all means, but is that hard to come up with a scheme that invents a pass rush?

To end the game, we rushed 1 man! Granted, it was a Hail Mary situation, but still.

I look at this way. We have that talent, but they don't execute.

Basic fundamentals of TACKLING will be addressed in practice this week, bank on it.

I think we have the players. It just doesn't seem like the team adjusts. The Bills tried to run the ball on the outside all day and the Jets did nothing to match that.

I find the idea that the fact that the Jets repeatedly couldn't tackle someone when they had 4 or 5 guys trying is somehow the coach's fault pretty ridiculous. That is completely on the players.

The Jets blitzed plenty during this game, and most of the time they got no pressure. But that has to be schemes? Maybe the linebackers stink at blitzing?

In the three biggest defensive series of the year the Jets forced a fumble on the 5th play, got an INT on the first play when rushing 3 when the QB was forced to throw on the run, and held Buffalo to 23 yards on 8 plays (when they needed 74) to end the game (exactly what the prevent is designed to do), but the defensive schemes are bad?

The defense was being carried all year by the run defense, and that has completely disappeared (Jenkins was pushed around all over the field all day). That's not the coaches - that's the players.

Maybe I can't see it all on TV, but it just appears to me that Sutton continues to send the 3-man rush every time - even when it's 3rd and long and every other DC in the NFL would send an all-out blitz. The ONE TIME Sutton blitzes (the Elam sack and forced fumble) was the turning point of this game and probably saved our season. Why the hell doesn't our DC see that? Why won't he just blitz on 3rd and longs?! Every time the other team is in 3rd and long, they should be sending at lest some LB's if not some defensive backs as well!

I believe that the Jets rushed 4 plenty of times, and I saw some LB blitzes as well - they just didn't work until that late play.

Watching the Ravens & Steelers right now...

    The major difference I see-

Every defender, on either side, does NOT allow himself to stay engaged with a blocker for longer than a second or so... We seem content with running into blocks and handfighting. They swim, rip, spin hit the dirt, crawl, whatever they can to stay off the blocks and make tackles.

That's the difference between good coaching & poor coaching

Why does it take half of our defenders to drag down Marshawn Lynch...

While watching the game in the second quarter (perhaps with 6:00- 7:00 min. left) I actually thought I saw David Harris on defense move to his left to engage a blocker rather than go to his right and try to tackle the ball carrier. It was a very strange reaction by Harris and I wish that I was able to see a replay (my taping of the game didn't work) to see if what I thought was true did indeed occur.

A BIG part of the problem is that Jenkins is wearing down. I'm not sure he's had a full season in the last two-three years?

Of course the coaching sucks too, we have the makings of a decent-good pass rush, USE IT!

Not much can be done about the secondary at this point though, it's Revis and the seven dwarves at CB.

They definitely have issues shedding blockers. Bryan Thomas is the most guilty of this, I consistantly see him engage a blocker and basically sit back and watch the play, I can't even begin to understand the strategy here and why this guy is still on the field.

Also, isn't the point of the 3-4 to create confusion so they don't know who's coming? If you watch other 3-4 defenses, they will often have a free runner come through straight up unblocked at least a few times a game. I rarely see this with the jets. It seems like we are not benefiting from the 3-4 at all.

    what game were you watching??

If the defense plays solid....there's no way the Bills get more than 10 points!! The reason why the Bills were in this game was because of our shoddy defense.

Doesn't matter. The defense made the play at the end to win it.

doesn't matter??!!...wow. Our defense makes one play to save the game...and it was a great play..but what about their "inept" play for the previous 3 1/2 quarters??

do pink unicorns exist in your reality too?

No kidding man....imagine if we make the playoffs what any of the other playoff teams will do to us, it will be completely humiliating.
