It's more about the lack of speed in the LB or DB corps. They continually get burned on these shitty little 3 yard routes.
Someone has to have a stat of how many times Ryan's d has given up crucial late game scores. I'm betting at least ten times
I was screaming at the TV that he HAD to bring pressure! You can't let Brady stand back there no matter how many guys you put in the secondary!!!
Prevent D never works. That's on the CS. The real killer this game was Hill's drop in the 4th. I know we still took the lead but if he catches that the Jets have the ability to run the clock out and then kick a FG. This one is going to sting
So freaking close to winning this game and even with a weaker Pats team we still find a way to lose, really crushing.
Defense played decent whole game. This game is lost due to special teams and offense. If it wasn't for the defense, there wouldn't be a crucial moment at the end of the game.
This isn't the day really to be harping on the D after an undermanned unit gave up twenty points total in four and a half periods on the road against the mighty Pats offense. The irony is a bunch of those late game scoring drives came in Rex's first year when the D was arguably at its best overall.
There may be truth to that, but the fact is the d could not shut down the pats with the game on the line. They could be a stonewall all day, but if you fold in crunch time, it's on you. The offense gave them a lead and they couldn't hold it.
Trufant did a halfway decent job on Welker except on the screen where he got pancaked by solder. Having a LB on Welker in OT was insane.
That can go in circles. If theo ffense didn't drive 94 yards for a TD, the game wouldn't have been 3 points setting up the defense to make a stop, setting up the Jets to tie the game, setting up the special teams to force a fumble, setting up the Jets to drill another FG setting up the Jets defense to end the game.
100% on the money. That's the #1 reason we lost the game. Same story for 4 years now. Hill drop ... safety ... Kick return ... blah blah blah. None of that shit matters if you can close the goddamn game with a sack or two. Personally, I knew we had NO SHOT of not playing OT. There's no way in hell our sackless defense is going to stop Tom Brady 4 times in a row. Not a snowball's chance in hell. As soon we settled for 3 to go up 26-23 I turned to my friend and said we'd have to win this in OT somehow. Not an OUNCE of doubt in my mind that the Pats would tie the game. In the NFL in 2012, defenses MUST close out one possesion games with a pass rush. (like Houston and NE did to us ... and even Miami in fact). Every time a game goes into the last 2 minutes with a one score margin, this team is at a HUGE disadvantage ... and the fact that this staff can't correct that is a disgrace. Every other team has people who can get to the QB. Where the fuck are ours???
