    The Colts
    The Chargers
    The Jags

I realize we had less overhaul than all those rosters (not), but I'd think this alone would be able to shut people up about this team.

Those are 3 supposedly elite teams with losing or not over .500 records.

The Colts and Jaguars have suffered some key injuries and the Jaguars weren't great to begin with, anyway.

The Chargers have lost quite a few tough games. You have to look at the subpar coaching there.

"Supposedly" is the correct word when talking about the Jaguars. I didn't think they'd be a playoff team in 2008. I thought Tennessee was notably better and I thought Indianapolis would also make the playoffs.

The Chargers still should win the AFC West. They need to start pulling out wins in the 4th quarter and get Tomlinson healthier.

Huh? Why would comparing the Jets to other underachieving teams "shut people up." I don't view the Jets performance in relation to other teams, I look at the product on the field which right now isn't very good.

Don't you get it? You're supposed to think that things aren't really amiss because other teams have also had some shitty games thus far this season.

Yea...what a shitty point to make right?

Lol I'd swear Jets fans prefer to have the team suck.

I really don't get it. So when we don't make the playoffs it's ok and will make us feel better because maybe 2 of those 3 didn't either?

AH yes, Jet fan acceptance of mediocrity at it's finest, right here.

As long as those teams that were supposed to be good are having shitty seasons, then it's A-OK for the Jets to be mediocre.

With that said I would take their talent over ours any day.

I don't get it. What is wrong with us, the fans, having a strong opinion of the team when they are playing well and an equally strong opinion of the team when they are playing like dogshit?

Let's face it, as fans, we invest alot of time in this franchise. From the regular season to the draft to training camp, we are along for the ride. We have hopes and expectations that one day the team will surprise us all and take its game to the next level. Given the infusion of talent this year and rather soft schedule, such expectations are warranted.

Why can we not be down on this team when they barely beat some of the worst teams in the league and lost to one of the 2 worst franchises in the last 10 years? Should we be happy, hugging each other, jumping in the streets because we're +.500 at this point? For some of us the answer is yes, but for the others, we see games that the team should have won, we see unmotivated gameplay, we see questionable coaching, etc.

To call a group of us out for being critical when we see that the team is not playing up to its potential is pretty lame. To try and sell us on the fact that other teams with similar expectations are also underperforming is weak. If you fail a test in school, do you brush it off when you know that Timmy, Bobby and Pete also failed the same test, or in the alternative, does it piss you off to some degree?

Maybe we should start grading the Jets on a curve... We don't really suck, we're just don't play well.

I know you've been around here for a while, so maybe its yours; whenever this board has been hit with a wave of fans who are satisfied with mediocrity, the school test scenario has been the most illustrative example of why this train of thought sucks. So thanks for bustin it out again.

I would also include the schedules. We have played two legitimate teams, one with a QB making his first career (including college) start, and we lost both, convincingly. SD & Indy have proven that they can overcome slow starts, we have not.

We have a difficult schedule remaining, and if we play the type of uninspired, poorly coached football that we have since our bye week, we will not make the playoffs and probably finish under .500.

I don't know what anyone envisioned our season being prior to Favre's arrival, but I can guess it was at least .500. After Favre's arrival I am guessing but the expectations were playoffs at a minimum.

Remember when Brady went down, people were actually talking about the Jets being the favorites. God that was a long time ago.

Yeah, I'm not about to dig it up, but I know I've seen it around here before. Maybe someone used it on Junc?
