I know this post is kind of senseless but i thaught it would be intersting to see who you guys would of chosen for our coordinator positions. I personally thaught we could have done better than brian schottemier and bob sutton. My choices would have been OC- Jim Zorn QB coach seahawks and DC-Pepper Johnson DL coach Patriots. Give me your choices.

OC - Mike Martz or Al Saunders two offensive genii.

DC - Buffalo's former coordinator Jerry Gray they slipped last season but in 2003 and 2004 they had one of the best defensive units in the NFL.

Honestly I am not sure about OC. But I would have made Sutton the DC. He was brought in by Parcells and stayed with the Jets even after Parcells left. Parcells has been singing the guy's praises for years, and I have no doubt recommended him to Mangini during one of their many telephone conversations. He has been loyal to the Jets, knowledgable, and is experienced. I am glad they gave him a shot, he is long overdue IMO.

Mike Martz wouldn't have fit here. Pepper Johnson would have been great! I'm sure him and Mangini have chemistry.

Frankly no coaches wante to touch this team with a 10 foot pole. Thats why we have super young coaches who are getting there first chances at being coordinators and head coach.

6 wins, if we are lucky!:pats_suck:

Not for nothing. But rookie head coaches don't really get the luxury of going after a top guy such as an Al Saunders or what have you...Gonna take some time to establish himself...

Yes. He has been loyal to the franchise, has alot of experience, and Parcells has spoke highly of him for years. He deserved a shot. "This guy" has been with the Jets for years.

Oc-Mike Mularkey is somebody we could have gotten and famaliar with using players with mutiple positions.Rememver he was the oc for the steelers and had players like Kordell ,Hines and randle-el.
DC-Donnie Henderson would have paid him HC money just to be our DC

Martz is a weirdo, he should not be a part of this staff.

I'm fine with Sutton as DC but my first choice was Jim Bates.

The problem is it would be extremley hard to get a high profile coach to be our OC and Dc with Mangini being our HC and Tannenbaum the GM. It would be quite a step down for Saunders, Martz, Tice, Bates or even Mularky to take a coordinator postion when they are so much more expereinced and qualified that Mangini. With no experience in the FO it would just make it even harder to recruit anyone with any credentials. Add in an onwner that refuses to pay its CS and its not surprising we have the CS that we have.

I agree 100% about Jim Zorn. I personally believe that he doesn't want to leave Seattle because after the job that he did with Matt Hasselbeck he should've been able to have his pick of coordinator jobs. He is strongly tied to the Seahawks franchise though.

Well said. A lot of times it's the coaching selection that makes people scratch their heads that ends up making the most sense. Sutton is a Jets Family Man.

    How about this:
    DC: Eric Mangini
    OC: Dom Capers
    HC: Donnie Henderson

Sutton was also turned down for the coordinators job three times by the Jets before being promoted after Mangini's first choice, Rob Ryan, declined and signed a long term extension with the Raiders. Ryan will probably take over for Art Shell in Oakland at some point in time.

Actually I think we got the right people. Living in San Diego I have good first hand knowledge of Schott junior but greater, and I think he will be a great OC.

On defense, Sutton is DV in name only as Mangini will run that in tandem with Sutton. Sutton is very well thought of, and the Jets D will be fine.

Quite honestly, I am ecstatic about all the Jets coaches and think they will prove to be the next great staff. LOVE that Westhoff stayed. He will be a huge factor in our success.

I'm Ok with the choices that EM made for OC and DC. I thought they might make a run at Mark Whipple, the QB coach for the Steelers as OC, but Schott swept Mangini off his feet. Like Mangini, we may be getting Schott a little before his time, but in a couple of years it will prove to be a good decision.
