no, they wouldn't be screwed, they just wouldn't have 3 points, and still be losing. in these conditions you go for it because these opportunities will be rare, as evident by the Jets inability to repeat such a drive.
The problem was not taking the points, the problem is on both O and D the players aren't in position and Favre is free lancing and he doesn't have it anymore.
