It was really refreshing to see the Jets not have to burn timeouts for having too many men on the field, having players out of position, etc. At the end of the first half (while it was still a game) and the Jets were driving late, they had 2 timeouts to use. How many times did we see the Jets not have them last year cause they had to burn them for dumb reasons? If I took anything from this win, it's that the Jets appear much more disciplined and better coached. Like I said, it's only one game, but still...
Definitely looked better in terms of not making mental mistakes, only one game but being that its the first game of the season it shows more then we would think.
I want us to look like a football team again and I think we took a nice step in that direction today. My brother who is a Bills fan is on cloud 9 right now that the Bills beat the Colts. I told him that I thought the Bills would do very well in the short term because Rex is really good at getting his guys motivated. Its just that it gets old after awhile.
It only gets old when your GM destroys the team underneath you...I doubt that will happen in Buffalo, they will only make it better for him there.
One game against the Browns and Johnny Rehab. Nice win, but we dodged a bullet. We were pretty lucky in the first half. Still have to clean shit up.
Maybe for you. The lack of discipline, the circus atmosphere, the lack of holding players accountable, the lack of wins following bye weeks, the lack of decent game plan 13-14 games a season, the lack of ability to make adjustments, the lack of ability to manage the game clock and time outs grew old VERY QUICKLY to many of us, and I'm sure to the better players on the team.
It seemed like the previous regime was so anxious to get to the locker room that they would routinely give up points right before halftime.
"Dodged a bullet" and "pretty lucky" in a game the Jets won by 21 points? The last time the NY Jets won by a margin that large it was October 2012.
I'm the biggest Homer here, but the Browns were the better team in the first half, with the exception of two mistakes. A fumble on the goal line and an INT that Marshall wrestled away from the DB resulted in a 14 point swing. Great plays by the Jets, but the Browns should also take better care of the ball in those situations. Maybe it's because we've had so few TOs in the past 3 years, but I feel lucky when we get them.
I enjoyed the adjustments we made. Good job by the rookie HC. We made Manziel look like a pro-bowler for a while out there, but we turned up the pressure. We also took advantages of the turnovers. If we can continue generating turnovers on defense, we are going to be a really good team.
Turnovers are part of the game, they're typically not luck but good plays on defense, we won by 21 points, and as much as we were outplayed in the first half, we out-played the Browns even more in the second half. Lucky McCown got concussed to face Johnny Football? Not sure I'm sold on McCown being any more of a game changer as the game wore on and the defense adjusted. McCown was terrible last year in terms of completion % and td:int. He would've shown his true colors eventually. Johnny rehab had a great first drive only to implode under the pressure.
