    ........the fullback position.

T-Rich was a big part of our success in the running game the past few years. I'm not saying Conner is playing bad, because truthfully i don't even know either way.

it's just interesting because it's not something that's being discussed at all.

what have you guys seen in terms of his blocking and do you think it's having an impact (either positively or negatively) compared to last year when we had t-rich back there?

I think we can all agree in the run game, the fullback has a tremendous effect on the overall success so i'm surprised it's not something that has even been looked at.

(FYI, i'm not saying we should have kept T-Rich. it was time to get the young guy in there either way. just curious as to how he's been doing)

I thought CONNER not only ran well he aslo blocked well. I think you are reaching for straws on this one. IMO its Greene that looks tentative going into the hole. No matter what Conner does if the RB does not hit the hole with authority, the ball is going no where.

Pretty sure I mentioned it in two or three other threads about the run game/OL.

I didn't see a lot of holes last night, except for the ones Reed, Suggs, and Ngata were running through.

agreed. the line has been getting no push and before greene even has a shot the D line is in the backfield or gets at least some penetration.

all you have to do is look at the plays developing to see there's no where to go. adrian peterson couldn't even do anything with the way the line has been playing

......I was completely wrong so I edited it...........sorry

The Jets do not use a FB all that much:

    Game #1- 6 of 64 plays

    Game #2- 14 of 57

    Game #3- 15 of 72

    Game #3- 16 of 56

I think the numbers were as lean last year if not more so..................

Basically I was just comparing the O-Line we have now to the one we had 2 years ago where everyone was a pro-bowler except moore and we had a pro-bowl fullback.

Posted it somewhere else too, but yeah basically the talent around Greene (especially when it came to run blocking) was a lot better when he was a rookie.

Sorry, I edited I was initially talking out of my behind.......... I said the Jets do not use the FB that much but my initial numbers were way off.

I watch the games at Hammerjacks in Davie. It isn't bad we have a good time there.

    I don't know about that but here's what I do know ....

I'm re-watching the game and if he showed an ounce of fucking hustle after the ngata sack he could have recovered it or at least made the tackle. look at the play. he was actually closer to the ball than Johnson, but he stood there and watched as Johnson ran by him, picked it up and ran into the end zone to make it 27-7.

    nice job.

Yeah, the kind of "holes" the OL is opening up for him must feel like someone keeps slamming a door in his face.

He's the fullback. Some teams don't even have fullbacks anymore. He has the requisite size and he keyed some of our bigger run plays last season. He's fine. The problem lies with the offensive line.

I think it's a mix of not having T-Rich, Big Wood. This o-line even when Mangold comes back won't be as good as it was the last 2 years.

you cant underestimate the leadership and smarts that a guy like trich had on the field. and the sideline, and the locker room, and the off season.

everyone wants these young guys to step in and be better than the old guys, often we want them to be better than they actually are. and in the mean time we dont look at what has been lost. i can almost guarantee you that although conner is doing a good job blocking there is still something missing with trich not being there.

We are definitely missing T-Rich now. And it is factor. But lets evaluate John Connor later in the season
