If there is a negative today it's that the Jets committed a lot of penalties. 10 for 80 yards.

The O-Line was penalized a lot. Hopefully the false starts can be fixed as they get used to Sanchez's cadence. But the team has to work on limiting penalties. We probably can't commit 10 penalties next week and win.

based on what we saw in pre-season when the starters were in

the penalties were actually a big improvement

I'm not going to knock Ferguson's performance at all.

When a tackle lines up across from an elite NFL player like Mario Williams, who in my opinion is the best defensive lineman in the NFL, he's going to jump a bit. D'Brick was just trying to get off the line a step ahead of Williams.

No sacks, no problems. I don't give a damn about penalties if it means Mark Sanchez isn't getting hit.

I'd rather have a couple false starts then have Mark Sanchez getting sacked on those plays.

Hostile enviroment, rookie QB, rookie coach, the penalties were not as bad as they could have been. Only real bad one was Sanchez false start. Well, that was actually kinda funny.

I agree that the penalties weren't really that bad.

WTF? The Jets won. Why are we trying to come up with ways to not enjoy this?

The false starts and procedure calls should get better as the season goes on. I also agree that I don't blame a guy for being jumpy across from mario Williams - guy is amazing. Was there a tackle he wasn't in on?

I believe it's an old, old wooden ship used during the Civil War era.

+1. Absolutely agree with u there. Didn't think of it this way, but yeah, I'd take couple of extra penalties than a few knockdowns, or sacks.

Well, it is September now so I guess that sort of makes sense. But I am worried that we won't be able to avoid these fall start issues considering that, you know, October and November are somewhat unavoidable, and we will have some games that start during those months...in the fall...

Should the Yankees be worried about fall starts too??

Get used to it, we will be a much more penalized team- this team will border on recklessness at times and also can't go nuts when we get burned by blitzing so much. We have to take the bad w/ the good.

But the O-line can hold their water a little better. And Brick with an unnecessary roughness? I like the aggression but he's not usually a dumb penalty guy.

We have an agreessive team, I bet we set the franchise record for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties this year. Hopefully they don't directly cost us games but I expect alot of them.
