This game is better than the other draft game. It doesn't grade picks, player rankings are better, and there are lots of choices as to whose rankings one uses. After doing several drafts without trading down and missing out on one of the top C prospects every time, I decided to accept a trade down offer from the Bengals. There were no future picks offered in any trade I've seen, but I got the Bengals' #11 pick, their 10th pick of the 2nd round, their 11th pick of the 5th round, and three 6th round picks (#10, 25 and 37). As it turned out, it was a good thing I accepted the trade down, as Allen went #2 to the Niners. I can't believe the luck I had with the ranking system I used. It would never happen, but Bosa fell to #11. It ranked a lot of the OL around where they fell at the Jets' picks (both original and ones added via the trade down. Following is what I came up with. 11: R1P11 EDGE NICK BOSA OHIO STATE 42: R2P10 C ERIK MCCOY TEXAS A&M 68: R3P4 OT YODNY CAJUSTE WVU 93: R3P29 WR MECOLE HARDEMAN GEORGIA 105: R4P3 OT TYTUS HOWARD ALABAMA STATE 149: R5P11 G BEN POWERS OKLAHOMA 183: R6P10 RB BENNY SNELL JR. KENTUCKY 196: R6P23 G DRU SAMIA OKLAHOMA 198: R6P25 WR KEESEAN JOHNSON FRESNO STATE 210: R6P37 WR JAKOBI MEYERS NC STATE 217: R7P3 TE TOMMY SWEENEY BOSTON COLLEGE Possibly our 2019 and future starting C; a backup LT who could possibly be our future LT starter; backup RT and possible future RT starter; both starting OGs from Oklahoma's OL that if nothing else would upgrade depth, but perhaps one of them could push Winters for the LG spot, and one of them could replace Osemele next year if he isn't the same player following injury, or at least give solid depth; a very fast WR with a ton of potential and who is also a great PR; a backup RB with some power; a TE who can block and catch; and a couple of WR prospects.
For this draft, I used Draft Scout Rankings and they were weird as they had a lot of players ranked low that most others have ranked a round or two higher, but because of it I got several steals. I traded down twice. They had Allen ranked 11th, so the first time I traded down with Denver thinking I could possibly still get Allen. He went 9th, and the Broncos took Brian Burns at our #3 spot. I received Denver's 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th round picks. After missing on both Allen and Burns I traded down with Washington, adding another 3rd round pick. It was another rebuild the OL draft. I was going to take a CB in the 3rd round, but when both Risner and Arcega-Whiteside were both there, I couldn't pass on them for one of the CBs who was left. My plan in taking both McCoy and Risner was either to let them battle it out for the starting C job, or let McCoy compete with Harrison for the starting C job, and let Risner compete with Winters for the RG job. Taylor would compete with Shell for the RT spot. Cajuste would back up Beacham at LT. We'd potentially have a whole new right side to the OL and great flexibility as McCoy can play C or OG, Risner can play RT, OG and C, and hopefully Taylor can play either OT spot. We'd also potentially have our future LT bookend tackles. 10: R1P10 OT JAWAAN TAYLOR FLORIDA 46: R2P14 C ERIK MCCOY TEXAS A&M 68: R3P4 WR JJ ARCEGA-WHITESIDE STANFORD 76: R3P12 C DALTON RISNER KANSAS STATE 93: R3P29 EDGE JAYLON FERGUSON LOUISIANA TECH 105: R4P3 OT YODNY CAJUSTE WEST VIRGINIA 125: R4P23 TE FOSTER MOREAU LSU 156: R5P18 WR ANTHONY JOHNSON BUFFALO 196: R6P23 WR MECOLE HARDMAN GEORGIA 217: R7P3 RB MYLES GASKIN WASHINGTON
Sorry! fanspeak.com You have to register first, I believe. In the free version, there are no trades. I upgraded to premium so I could make or accept trades.
In my final draft I wanted to insure that I got both one of the top centers and a good CB prospect. It wasn't to be. Green Bay offered to give me both of their 1st round picks and their 2nd round pick. That was too good to pass up, but in doing so, I again missed out on the top edge rushers as Bosa, Allen and Burns were all gone within the first 7 picks. I planned to take a CB with our early 3rd round pick, but Kelvin Harmon was sitting there and there were a slew of good CB prospects left, so I took Harmon. I should have paused the draft and traded up, but was so tired, that by the time I realized what was happening all the better remaining CBs were gone. I used Pro Football Focus' rankings for this draft and they're odd as well. They had Elgton Jenkins ranked #26, Garrett Bradbury #52 and Erik McCoy ranked #80. Somebody took Bradbury before I could with pick #30, so I took Jenkins. I would be very happy with this draft getting probably a new starting C and RT, depth at LT for this season and potentially our future LT; a #1 WR prospect in Harmon; probably the best and most versatile TE in the draft who is a great receiver and very good blocker; Marshall could possibly help the CB corps; hopefully Ferguson would provide some pressure at edge rusher; again I was so tired that I actually had forgotten that I had taken Hockenson earlier when I took Moreau, so it's a luxury pick, but there wasn't much left at that point anyway, and I think Moreau was the highest ranked player left. That would give us a great TE corps with Herndon, Hackenson, Leggett and Moreau. Pollard would be returner and gadget player for the offense. There was a run on RBs in the 6th round so wasn't able to grab a RB. 12: R1P12 OT JAWAAN TAYLOR FLORIDA 30: R1P30 TE T.J. Big day for Mac. I hope he took a great dump this morning. Most blown drafts are a result of constipation.
