Cro got his first pass deflection of the season today. At this rate he'll have an awe inspiring 2 PDs for the season.
He's had a bad year, no doubt. It's disappointing after 3 solid seasons for us. Kyle Wilson has been our most consistent corner....
Absolutely, provided he finishes w/ 2 PDs, he'll only be making 4.75 million per PD. In the words of Primetime Deon Sanders "PAY THE MAN!".
Cro's having a tough year. It's not Revis absence because Revis was gone almost all of last year. It's not the pass rush failing to get pressure because the pressure has been there. It's most likely either an assortment of minor injuries or an age-related decline in his play.
Last season was abnormal for him. This is what he used to always do. Holding receivers, interference, crappy tackling. That stuff is what he was normally like.
We knew Cro wasn't as good as he was last year, but we all hoped he would. But he's usually not this bad either
In Cro's defense a lot of his game is based on his athleticism. Injuries and age will affect Cro a lot more than a guy like Revis. Being banged up will effect his play and he has been banged up all year. But it does not bode well for the future. But besides the two deep bombs Cro seemed to play ok. Dalton mainly stayed away from him today picking on Milner and Walls a lot.
And there you have it. This is why trading him when his value couldn't have been any higher, would have been the smart move. 01-08-2013, 08:39 PM
This...he simply looks like he's in pain every time I see a close up or something. Definitely throw on the pile his age.
The only positive here is when we cut Holmes and Sanchez we should be around 30 mil over the cap and we have 11 picks !
I got stoned for saying just that. I see merits in that argument - some even suggested trading Cro while keeping Revis in house. Trading top two CBs away does seem stupid in a way.
40-50 UNDER and 12 actually Plus winning around half our games or more in a rebuild season with a rookie QB in which all the media "experts" and gloomy mickey mouse message board "realists" guaranteed no better than 3-13 Other than those, yup.....no positives at all
Cromartie is atrocious this year. He can't jam at the LOS and gets beat quickly right off the line (green humiliated him yesterday repeatedly). He has great straight line speed (but has lost step), but no short area quickness....that is why he gets beat all the time on any route other than deep routes and now in recent weeks he can't even cover deep routes. He is a PI penalty waiting to happen because he grabs jerseys and holds almost every play that he gets initially beat (seriously, watch him). He is always late turning his head and locating the ball. He flat out stinks this year. His technique is just bad and seems to have learned nothing from his time with revis.
Matches are made in heaven and Darrelle Revis and the jets are that match....they each miss eachother so bad! Not having Revis is killing us and he's wasting away on that shitty bucs team
I thought he played pretty well actually. AJ only caught three balls, and the deep one was just a great catch - Cro was all over him. AJ is an elite receiver, sometimes he's going to make plays. Of course they didn't really have to throw his way since the rest of the secondary was so atrocious. He has always matched up well againt big guys that are top-speed fast and physical, and struggled against shifty quick guys that cut well. This is nothing new. Where Revis excelled was being able to cover the quicker guys, and we've missed that against the receivers that we've faced this year. What bothers me is that other teams with good defenses seem to be able to scheme appropriatly when they have a weakness that can be exploited, but Rex likes to depend on his CBs and cover skills too much, and unfortunately I don't think we have the personnel to lock guys down at the moment when they have 3+ viable receiving options.
