Now that we are in hot pursuit of C.Pace... I would love to bring in C.Pace, he's what any 3-4 needs, a player who can make plays from the outside. BP's and Tangini all understand that. Now some say if we draft C.Pace that eliminates any hope of drafting V.Gholston, I dont understand why that would be.

Just think about it... If we were to sign C.Pace sometime next week, and draft V.Gholston at #6... Our Defense would be in place to make a SERIOUS run at the playoffs...

Not only would we have a perfect body playing the NT position for our 3-4 Defense in K.Jenkins, who is even larger than V.Wilfork, But we would also have an inside MLB in D.Harris who could have been the defensive ROY last year controling the middle of the field and making plays behind the LOS. With two pass rushing threats on both sides rushing the Quarterback in Pace and Gholston... Lets not forget about E.Barton who is still a big time player with the right players around him.

We run the 3-4, its important to have that dominating NT... We now have one in Jenkins and Ellis is a perfect LDE in the 3-4, but we would have a great LB'ing unit aswell...

Gholston-Barton-Harris-Pace.... With players like B.Thomas for deph

Thats amazing with Coleman, Jenkins and Ellis on the Line

With Rhodes and Revis in the secondary.

Just think about signing Pace and drafting Gholston... We would have players everywhere on the field.

I agree with what your saying- not sure if Barton would be starting ahead of Thomas though- I think the Jets are more comitted to Thomas than Barton- Also I like the idea of signing Gay to play opposite Revis and drafting a cornerback in round 2 to maybe become starter mid-season or at least give our secondary some depth

it's a matter of money. Pace simply isn't worth the amount of money he's probably gonna get. and B. Thomas is being paid too much to be a depth guy.

Any chance we cut Thomas if we get Pace and Gholston?

We cant be scared to spend the money... Yes we spent a shit load on Jenkins and Faneca... Put we can afford to sign Pace to a huge contract... Let keep in mind that Penny is off the books next year which will save us a SHIT LOAD of Cash flow... And thiers like a 90% chance that Robertson huge payroll wll hit another team this offseason... After Robertson THIS Year, if we get rid of him... We should have close to about 20 million

I don't care if yousign Pace, you draft Gholston if he's there. Count your blessings and figure out what to do afterwards; by that time we'll have a better view on our cap situation anyway. If you can, keep Thomas for depth. If not, whatever.

You can't not sign Pace because you think Gholston's going to be there. That's far from a forgone conclusion at this point.

I couldn't agree more tampa and would only hope that we draft another middle linebacker to take over for Barton in a year ( or less) and then all offense like WR, OWen Schmitt at FB, another good TE and another CB. Perfect offseason!

The Giants were so good at rushing the passer because they have 4 great DEs. In our 3-4 defense, we need 3 to 4 great OLB to put the pressure on as the lineman are usually to fill gaps. Sign Pace, Draft Ghoulston then with Thomas and Bowens in reserve we should have a much better pass rush and then our revamped secondary can hopefully then shine.

Yea I think Giants have proven that you cant have too many rushers- Sign Pace and draft Gholston
    Go cornerback in Round 2
Our defense will create a couple turnovers a game

    --------Coleman- K.Jenkins- S.Ellis---------------

Just imagine if we added Shepherd to our secondary- our defense would have to be a top 5 unit next season

If we get both Pace and Gholston the guy who gets cut is Chatham not Thomas. I don't have the facts, but I've read that there wold be no significant cap savings by dumping Thomas. Having Thomas, Bowens, Gholston and Pace would be solid and very deep OLB unit. Now, ILB is another story. We are severely lacking depth there.

  14. Gholston would still be an option at 6...he'd help add depth and provide yet another pass rushing option. the problem? i dont think he makesit past 4.

Right now I think we're staring at DMAC or trading down at 6. Unless Merling or Mendenhall really shoot up the board.

I am starting to think that the Jets want a playmaker on offense with that #6 pick...

    Especially if we sign Pace.

  17. If we sign Pace, and solidy the right side of the OL..you are right.

And currently I think the top 5 will go like this..

    1. Mia- Chris Long
    2. Stl-Sedrick Ellis
    3. Atl- matt Ryan
    4. Oak- Vernon Gholston
    5. KC- Jake Long

If we sign Pace, Question becomes- Are we a better team with 3 quality outside options at linebacker in Pace, Thomas and Gholston or are we better with just Pace and Thomas along with a gamebreaker like McF to run behind our revamped offensive line?

I think Tannenbaum may be afraid to pass on this year's AP, especially when he could be regretting signing the ordinary Thomas Jones to such a big money contract last offseason.

lol, I just love looking back @ older threads!

I knew from day one...When I heard the Pace going to the Jets rumors...I knew what Pace could do, this guy is a hell of a player and this was one hell of an offseason move! Getting Pace was the perfect move for a 3-4 team like the Jets! He's simply played lights out this year for the Jets and if you ask me...Spening that type of $$$ on Pace was well worth it!

And you know what? I'm still in support of the Gholston pick. This kid has natural talent and by week 10...I believe he will replace Bryan Thomas (Who has been playing solid) I just believe that Gholston is a playmaker...It's going to take time, but still...Gholston has the talent and ability of a Ware/Merriman type of player. Once he learns the role of a 3-4 OLB...I look for Gholston to make plays for this Jets D for years to come.

And wow...Drafting Lowery was some pick! Sheppard who?!?!?
