    Free Agents + Resign
    --------------------
    Leon Washington-Our own Brian Westbrook

Tony Richardson-a valuable part of our running game and a leader

Eric Barton-I really felt he was one of the only players on our team that went hard every play along with Abram Elam..He really has a fire

Channing Chowder-He could really help our defense out and a great rotational player.....i feel we either let barton walk and grab him or just keep barton

Will Allen-Valuable veteran pick....can play well next to Kerry Rhodes but i am also comfortable with Abe Elam since he was one of our only playmakers on defense

    Cuts
    ------
    David Barret-too inconsistant

    Drew Coleman
    -Enough said

    Bubba Franks-didn't do much

    Mike Devito-we can do better

Bryan Thomas-Not sure if this is a huge cap problem tho but I dislike him lol

    Kenyon Coleman- see Bryan Thomas

    Draft
    ------

1ST Round (23): Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland-The front office is definitely not scared to pick an offensive threat as last year they took Dustin. He is a big fast receiver and can eventually get into rotation as coles hits FA in 2010.

2nd Round(54): Alphoso Smith, CB, Wake Forest-The jets have one of the worst pass secondarys opposite Revis and Rhodes....This is one of the best corners available and he might possibly not be here....this would be a great pick...expect the jets to move up for him too....

3rd Round Pick(85): Daniel Holtzclaw, ILB, Eastern Michigan:
One of the most underrated ILB in the college football, started every college game and has very impressive stats and he will compliment David Harris real well.
(Saint pick as our's went to the Packers if we don't make the playoffs)

4th Round(A):Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty: Liberty is undefeated this year and it is because of Jennings. He is 6'1'', 230, and runs a 4.41. This is a potential Michael Turner and we ALL wanted him so bad. Potential replacement for Jones who's almost 31.

4th Round(B): Augustus Parrish, OT, Kent State:The most athletic olineman in the College football.....Raw but he can be coached and provides great depth behind Woody
    4th:

5th Round: David Burton, SS, Notre Dame:
An excellent Saftey who could eventually start next to Kerry.....He has excellent size, great intangibles, and is underrated because of how horrible Notre Dame is.

6th Round: Nader Abdallah, DE, Ohio State: This kid is huge at 6'5'' 310 and runs a 4.9. He can be an excellent stop gap DE and provide depth at NT too. He has to work on his motor consistency though.

7th Round: Brian McCain, CB, Utah: One of the fastest players in the NCAA and some excellent 7th round depth.

Devito and Coleman are both fine. They are not part of the problem. The problem lies with the linebackers and the lack of speed. I like Barton and Thomas but both players are not fast enough to play in a 3-4. Every 3-4 team has linebackers that are fast, can cover, can blitz and can play the run. The linebackers have to be the dynamic unit. I would but Bryan Thomas after yet another disappearing act. I believe Barton is a free agent and I would consider him but I would think in the first 3 rounds the jets could find a cheaper, faster alternative.

They will need a veteran corner and a new starting safety next to Rhodes. Elam and Law are both two slow at this point for the defense. Elam made some night plays but he's really not a good coverage safety.

yea, thats why i said we should pick up chowder......he's young and a good pick up...

and Will Allen to replace Smith and Elam....

WHat should we do with Elam though, try him at OLB??? He makes way to many plays on defense to not play...hes inconsistent at times but no one else seems to play at his intensity.....Jenkins does every like 10 plays.....

Elam is garbage...he's made THREE big plays all year. Guys that suck as bad as him need to play with a high motor, because they aren't nearly as talented as the players around them.

Moving Abram Elam to 3-4 OLB is probably the worst idea I've heard on this board in a long time. C'mon Savino, think about it. The guy is barely over 200 pounds.

Channing Crowder probably won't leave Miami to come here unless we pay him a lot.

Will Allen could be a good pickup, but he's mediocre as well.

The Jets need to build through the draft...

lmao....i got that idea because he played OLB against Seahawks....damn, I assumed he was atleast 235-230......still 30 lbs light from a true OLB......

i tried god damn it......thanks for shittin on my parade

I agree though.....we need to build through the draft....i feel the draft picks are decent tho

I appreciate the work you put into it - I like it when guys put out mocks.

Elam provides okay depth, and I'd like to see him stay a Jet, but he's not starting material...at any position on this defense.

I still like Emanuel Cook out of South Carolina - he would be an impact player right away at strong safety. Rashad Johnson from Bama would also be a nice pick.

I like him a lot too. He's a great tackler and would definitely help our run defense. I don't know how great he is in coverage though, and that's our problem.

Right now, we need guys that can cover...especially at linebacker.

Your joking about calling Barton slow while we have mollasses Harris beside him, at at least Barton has fire

what Holtzlaw's skillset, can he cover or his he a block eater as well, his name doesn't ring a bell for me

You could cut Thomas late in the offseason. It would save you $550,000 on next years cap but would cost you 3.5 million against the following years cap.

Harris is definitely a faster player then Barton. Neither are fast players.

Thats the thing, they are the same guy, one with more intensity, one more athletic, neither can cover, we need a cover guy, pure explotation in the middle by oposing offenses

We need a guy with the same skillset as lets see Vilma
