If you are going to be passing on candidates like the two we’ve already brought in for second interviews plus guys like Joe Brady who apparently they are really high on, you have to be almost positive that your guy is going to accept the job potentially three weeks from now. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and I’m assuming that Douglas knows that. And like I said, granted I’m just a guy on the Internet, I think both guys were brought in already are better head coach and candidates than Daboll.
The only group that seems to agree that Sam can’t be an nfl qb are the Uber emotional jet fans. It’s pretty universally accepted around the league that there’s enough there to work with. If Douglas /new hc decide to roll with Sam one more year keeping him is not going to be hard. The cap is in great shape and set up to pay the qb when it’s time. Also considering the trade down that would come in April, the amount of premium pick this year and next , we should have a lot of good players on rookie deals for the next 3-4 years keeping the cap that much more manageable while also paying out Sam if it does play out that he’s worth keeping. If he doesn’t, we’re really not passing on anyone that is a must pick prospect. Hell Douglas could even hedge his bet a bit in this draft if he wanted too. In short, I’m not going to declare anyone “ wrong for the job” based on what they do with Sam. There’s a lot of ways this can break
I don't think Bieniemy is going to be hired by anyone. A lot of people are questioning his potential as a head coach and how much the success in Kansas City falls at his feet or with Andy Reid
Just to add to this… I would take Marvin Lewis and a solid coaching staff today over waiting three weeks for Daboll.
I'm of the opinion we should not wait weeks fro Daboll that might or might not want to be a Jets coach if we are equally high on Smith, Saleh or Lewis. Make the call and press on. Start the process to steal the best now OC process after the selection.
The bold part is just flat out false. There are probably some teams that are interested but a universal view? No chance. When I'm on non-Jets specific forums almost everyone seems to realize Darnold is terrible. The only support I see for him is among hopeful Jets fans and draft analysts who don't want to admit how wrong they were about him.
you can take whose ever opinion you want. I was merely challenging the claim that its "universally accepted" that Darnold is a good QB. The opinions of people you follow on twitter don't prove that. its clearly not universally accepted
I think the point of the exercise was that actual real life employed football people think Darnold can still play in the NFL. Fans on the Internet aren’t exactly the be-all end-all.
No, his point was that it's a universal view. It's not. Not even close. Nobody is saying there isn't anyone who still thinks Darnold can be good, we're saying acting like it's a universal view around the league is crazy.
It’s not a lie, I see reporters and ex players saying the expect a bunch of teams to show interest or they can see new coach saying keep him. Not fans, fans use emotion, I’m going with what people involved in the league are tweeting. Hell, if he was absolutely not fixable there wouldn’t be any discussion.
