I know grades dont mean anything but this is all we have to go off of till training camp
The depth at OT is indeed very strong in this draft. Which is why I have been emphasizing for 3 months now, that D brick is not the "no brainer" at 4, that he is made out to be. We need to take the BPA at every spot. If at 4, that happens to be Brick, than so be it. But it isn't essential.
I 100% agree, I'd much rather get a steal with an OT like Winston, McNeil, Scott, or O'Callaghan in the 2nd round than wasting a high pick on a LT when we already have a solid, young LT.
The depth at offensive tackle is very good but that doesn't mean that we should pass on the far and away #1 tackle if he's available.
People considered 2004 one of the deepest drafts for wide receivers ever. Does that mean the teams that took Larry Fitzgerald and Roy Williams should have passed on them? Edit: Thinking about it again the Cardinals and Lions didn't really need more WRs. But you get my point.
thats the reason 7 of them went in the 1st rd. even though the last 2 woods and jenkins where reaches.. i highly doubt we see 7 Ot's in round 1 this year. this isnt me saying dont take D brick im just tryna say that if we dont take him doesnt mean its the end of the world as some here believe.
Are you in love with Adrian Jones? It's ok if you are, but seeing every topic even mentioning D'Brick you say we have a solid LT in Adrian Jones. Why don't you just copy and paste everytime Brick is brought up because then you could save some time and talk about something other than how Adrian Jones is a god.
We should try to trade down, and get Justice or McNeill and gain a 2nd rounder. We should be able to get a solid OT in this draft.
He's not "far and away" the #1 tackle. He's a little better than Justice, but a lot of that has to do with Justice playing on the right side and not having Ferguson's experience.
He's been the top OT in the draft for the past 2 seasons now. Have you heard anybody say that Justice would be drafted before Ferguson? At all? Of course you haven't. If that isn't evidence that Ferguson is the far and away #1 tackle I really don't know what would be.
I guess our definitions of "far and away" are a lot different. Like, LaDainian Tomlinson is far and away better than Curtis Martin. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a little better than Winston Justice, but not by a lot at all.
If Justice is so close to Ferguson, why wouldn't a single team in the NFL prefer Justice to Ferguson?
Um, no, different people read and post in different threads because people are on at different times, so if I only said that in one thread, and a lot of people didn't read it, I wouldn't be getting my point across.
Point taken. I disagree with you on Jones but I respect you sticking with what you got. We can both agree that we have serious O-line issues and it definitely needs to be addressed. Personally I want Mario at 4 if hes there then take Mangold and then a Tackle in Rd 2. We'll have to wait and see though.
im starting to believe mangold at 29 is only option. looking these grades its a hell of drop off after him
Again, it's based on the fact that Justice played the right side in college, and has less experience at the position. If we're basing it off pure talent and ability, the gap between Ferguson and Justice is not that large at all.
That's just plain not true. If Ferguson has one thing going for him it's the fact that he's got incredible athleticism (plus his footwork and reach.) Justice is stronger than Ferguson but that's just about the only thing Justice really has over him.
