The power ratings from Scouts, Inc from ESPN Insider for players lost by Tannenbaum and Mangini vs the power ratings of their replacements:

John Abraham (81) vs KVO (70)
Kevin Mawae (76) vs Teague (72)
Ty Law (no data?!) vs Dyson (73)
Jerald Sowell (72) vs Askew (66)
Jason Fabini (75) vs Clement (66)

The Sporting News rating system of the top 100 free agents failed to place a single replacement in their list.

i hate losing sowell but hopefully bj will step it up

dyson is the man and will be a great pickup for our D

obviously the lose of mawae hurts, but teague could be solid.

all in all we could of done better in FA, but i think we have bigger needs that will be addessed in the draft

Yes ra, that's commonly what happens when you shed veterans and excess cap space, and begin rebuilding. Those guys outside of Askew and Dyson are just depth fodder, not "replacements"

    Well,

You have to count the player we pick at #29 and KVO against Abraham.
Mawae is only gone because he was playing hardass on his contract. And, hopefully, Nick Mangold will be playing Center for us in '06 and not Teague.
Dyson is a decent player and might even have a more positive impact than Law.
I was sorry to see Sowell go.
I'm suprised to see Fabini rated above Clement.

KVO was signed because of his experience in a very good 3-4 and his rep for being a good supportive teammate to young players coming in and learning the Steelers 3-4. I don't think the Jets expect him to be much more than that. Maybe a few sacks and a couple drops for losses, but they know he is not in JAbe's class. On the other hand JAbe was a void in terms of supporting his teammates - his interests always came first and his personal flaws got in the way.

Dyson is way better on a rebuilding team than Law. He might actually be around for a Jet's SB run in 2009.

I'm shocked rajensen hasn't been banned yet for trolling. Can't be too far away, though.

A slight alteration on your list may shed some light here:

Expensive, durability lacking, one dimensional player (81) vs KVO (70)
Locker room lawyer, over 35, coming off injury (76) vs Teague (72)
Out of shape, me-first, expensive jackass (no data?!) vs Dyson (73)
Tough loss, but time to move on (72) vs Askew (66)
Revolving door tackle, coming off injury (75) vs Clement (66)

Free agency isnt over and i think we should go after 6-2 345lb Grady Jackson to fill our need at NT. He is a big strong experienced player who would help our run defense out a lot. He would also take away the need to draft a big NT in the draft.

I posted facts. Let me see, if you don't support the new regime you must hate the Jets, right. Stop trying to be a Sean Hannity wannabe. If you think the current occupant of the White House is a simple minded lyer you must hate America, right. I'm a greater Jet fan than you will ever be. Keep following the Pied Piper of Hofstras and drink 50 gallon drums of green Kool Aid...

im really surprised that mawae is barely rated above teague. I hated losing him. Before he was injured he was one of the best if not the best center in the league. That's the one thing that really jumps out at me.

I'm not the one who posted that I was going to be a fan of all ex-Jets this year.

No you didn't post facts. Facts would be the ages of the players released, oh wait you didn't post those. Facts would be the cap hit of the players, oh wait you didn't post those. Facts would be any turmoil between the players and the new regime that caused them to be released, oh wait no one knows what went on behind closed doors. You posted completely arbitrary numbers from a rating system made up from a private organization, not "facts."

Please enlighten us, who would you have released to get under the cap?

And come on, to inject politics into the discussion is an obvious attempt to stir people up and troll. I mean do you get off on that sort of thing? If you want to talk politics go to the bullshit forum.

What are you in fourth grade? Well my dad can beat up your dad! So there!

Enough with the puns, you sound like a bad comic during amateur night. You always manage to work in that "geen kool-aid" like it is your catch phrase or something. You might think it is creative, but it is corny as hell.

Abraham should be ranked like 75 cause he is always hurt when it counts.
Mawae-Treague oh well but not that much of a downgrade
Law-dyson is a downgrade oh well
Askew will probably better than Sowell
Clement-LOL If he is our starter though we are fucked we are not done in that position yet.

Very possible they took a run at him last year. They were smart and cost affient during the fa period. Good role players with experience. Dont under estimate Tim Dwight he will be very valuable for us.

The Oline guys are for depth, we got better at linebacker, and kimo is not abraham but he is a balanced DE not a one sided rusher.

Add on the cap savings we did great.
