The success of the O rides on 2 things- a) the OL, it will be young and therefore probably struggle but if they can come together fairly quickly qwe can be successfull and b) the QB. Whether it's Chad or Ramsey if we can get good OL play and decent QB play we have enough skill playesr to have a good offense. This is not 1995 when undrafted rookie Wayne Chrebet and Charels Wilson were our starting WRs.
The o-line is where it all starts. You can't prtect the QB or run the ball without that. So with Mawae gone, that will hurt. I don't know how fast Mangold and Brick will step in and succeed. It may hurt that Teague is injured which would allow Mangold to develop more. With a rookie OC as well, this whole thing will take time. But we have a lot of young guys and a handful of solid players with Curtis and Coles. I'm just hoping that this year (1) Mangini can figure out who he wants and who he doesn't and (2) no significant injuries.
I think that playmakers will emerge once the offensive line is stable and can protect the QB. At the start of last season the Redskins could have only hoped that Moss would have been average. No one was dubbing him the playmaker. As the season went on and the team got on the same page defensively, Moss emerged as a huge playmaker. The Jets will have playmakers emerge after the defense clicks and the offensive line gells.
H'mm while I totally agree with your analysis it makes you wonder why we took a plodding OLman with the #4 overall pick
Hey champ! We were waiting for you to chime in! Except your talking about old news, what is your take on the english grammar system?
He claims his posts utilize the KISS method and is supposed to be "keeping it simple" for all of us to read. It's just funny because half of the time, he's the only one who knows what his acronyms mean since he basically just pulls them out of his ass. We're all still waiting for him to tell us what his acronym of SLW means.
The plan is to run the opening kickoff into field goal range, then let Nugent do his thing. Then hold on for the rest of the game. I can't wait!!
The offense will take a couple years to get straight, and so far, they've gone about it the right way by starting up front, and getting a guy in Clemens that can lead the offense. The RB position will be interesting to watch this year. I still have a lot of faith in Curtis s a RB, but by the time this offense is in good enough shape for a playoff push, Curtis will be gone. I will be watching with interest to see if either Houston of Washington will step up. After watching Houston lst year, I believe he is depth only, albeit solid depth. Washington is an unknown to me, so I hope he gets some reps. Blaylock, to me, doesn't figure in. The WR position is very thin. I'm hoping to see Cotchery break out this year, as I still believe he has the potential be an excellent receiver. Coles is who he is, and so is JMac (who I believe is better then he showed last year). It'll also be VERY intersting to see how the Brad Smith Experiment turns out. All in all, I'm not expecting much this year offensively, but it will still be fun to watch some of the younger guys develop.
Did you expect a quick fix from the mess that was left with Herm and Bradway? Give it time, and stop acting like it's the end of the world. This will (probably) be a throw-away season anyway.
