I celebrate 4,000 posts by introducing you all to my mock draft. If The Eagles end up with Wimbley, then the Broncos take Jackson, and the Holmes IMO would fall to Cheifs or 49ers... Also, IDK why everyone (including the 49ers i'm sure) is thinking Davis for them. N'Gata, Huff, and Williams would all be excellent additions to their 32nd ranked defense. I'm not sure on a few of the ending votes or the order of Lawson or Sims but that's why my mock is at the moment, and for today > unofficial. Thoughts?
trey teague isnt good good enough for now? lol i tihnk that pick can be better spent IMO i would rather have lendale white or maroney ( preferably lendale since he was regarded at the 2nd best rb a while ago and we dont really need him to play yeat anyways)
-Don't like the Broncos pick of Holmes with Lawson, Wimbley, DWilliams, and Allen on the board. -With Sam Madison, Will Allen, Travis Daniels, and Renaldo Hill I don't see Miami taking a 1st round CB. S or OLB is a much more likely option... Jason Allen or Ernie Sims? -The Chargers would be doing cartwheels if Donte Whitner, Jonathan Joseph, and Antonio Cromartie all fell to them. The only reason they'd take an OLB over these guys is if they're ready to have 2 horrible pass defenders as the OLBs and if they're sick and tired of their 1st round busts in the secondary. Note: Everyone is taking Davis in their mocks because he's the most amazing TE prospect in a long time, Eric Johnson has had major injuries the past 2 years (and even when he's healthy Davis can line up as an H-Back and WR), and because their offense and defense are both arguably the worst in the league so you go with the best value pick; which is Davis without a doubt.
Wouldn't mind Lendale there, but I'd be pissed if we took Maroney. He was in a running back friendly system and the one game his OL was mediocre last season he ran for 48 yards on 16 carries (when the backup RB ran for 53 on 8). He's not a franchise RB...
you make really good points... i'll look over the depth chart, and some more mocks...and i'm sure i'll change my mock a little bit more before it's time to hand it over to GM
For what? You just mixed two positions. Sims is pure 4-3 LB...cant play the 3-4, unless maybe ILB. Lawson and Wimbley are 34 LBs. You drafted Wimbley to the Vikes...as what, a DE? Too tiny, hell get blown off the ball every time, unless your drafting him as a situational player...too high for the 1st round. His best shot is at 34 OLB. Thats why you switch em...better fits at their respective positions
Teams should draft a player that fits the scheme...since Sims fits in Minn and Wimbley dosent, Sims is the pick by default. Hes the perfect cover 2 LB
Looks good. Wimbley or Lawson...thats a matter of preference, theyre both 34 OLBs, and both teams run a 3-4. So depending on who you have ranked where, either player could go. I like Lawson more, but I couldnt fault you on picking Wimbley first. When I told you to switch Sims and Lawson, it had nothing to do with Wimbley...if you like him more than Lawson as a 34 OLB, by all means, put him first. Whether I think SD goes LB or DB is a different story altogether. Id say DB, because thats been their weakness...their run defense is among the leagues best. But that wasnt my original point
