The 2012 season is nothing but a blur in my rear view mirror. Started like gang busters and then collapsed mightily. Many contributors have been discussed, not the least of which was the inordinate amount of injuries. Yet throughout the struggles and embarrassment we scrapped 6 victories.

Six victories with essentially no OC nor any NFL type of game planning, a painfully predictable running game, a weak OL, a QB throwing to 4th string wide receivers in the few occasions where he was not running for his life or turning the ball over. Our D showed major signs of age and got gassed and torched at the edges. YET with all these issues the Jets kept most games within reach.

Enter 2013. There appears to be a significant amount of pessimism about the NYJ this year. Not sure why, but almost across the board; from the "NFL experts" to the forever omnipotent NYJ media to many Jet fans the feel is this season will be worse or at best the same as last year.

They might be right, but from my viewpoint, I feel we will be better, significantly better personnel and game planning wise both defensively and offensively. We will be fielding a hungrier, younger and more aggressive team almost across the board. So why not hope for an improvement. Am I the Lone Ranger on this?

Improvement does not necessarily translate immediately into more wins, although I hope it does, but it will clearly reflect on the improved level of play and the talent we field every week. The talent that will form the foundation for the next few years. Richardson, Mo, Coples, Milliner, Hill, Spadola, to name a few.

Defensively Rex and company will unleash the dogs. We are certainly not elite like the 49ers but we are not going to be a push over either. The D will keep it close. Rex Focusing on the D an having an OC in MM that can no shit call plays, keep defenses on their heels with aggressive game planning and avoiding simple minded predictability is in itself a major reason to get pumped about this season. No matter who will be under center MM will at least give him a major chance to be successful.

The notion of proving the media wrong is another great motivator for this team to flourish and shut those imbeciles up.

Call me way too optimistic, but I have hope that barring injuries the Jets will be far more competitive and fun to watch than 2012. And may be, just may be, towards the 3rd quarter of the season, we will be exchanging fun inputs with our TGG brethren about the chances of a playoff shot.

For me hope for the Jets springs eternal

I want to wish all the great contributors and Jet fans at TGG a fun season a lot of happy Sundays

    Fire away...

Agree with everything you said. Nothing would make me happier for the Jets to win the AFC East and shut everyone up but there's like a .5% chance that happens. I truly believe this team is better than last year and with avg QB play I have em at 11-5.

Around and around we go. I feel we are going to start on a high note with a win over TB. Close game but the D will play lights out.

Touchdowns by Ivory and Cumberland to get us on the right track.

May MM be blessed with a great offensive game and get the game ball, may no one get hurt, may the Geno haters, Jet haters and the scandalous media scramble in shock after the game to figure out what went wrong in their dark crappy little world and come up with more excuses and justify it was only a fluke.

Jets against the world game one is right around the corner
