This was the EXACT game against Pittsburgh where the Rangers were outplayed all night, had no business winning but somehow won.

Stealing one on the road is a must and to come this close...ugh

That loss falls on Kaapo Kakko and Kaapo Kakko only and it’s a damn shame because that was one of his best games.

Just stop what? Kakko NEEDS to put that puck in the net and make it 2-0.

That was one of his best damn games as an NHL player and it's going to be completely overshadowed by that missed shot.

The problem is we are having record setting heat, 90 degrees plus.
I do not know the science exactly why, but anytime we are playing and the temperatures get into the 80’s we have a problem with maintaining quality ice.

Let’s be real though, they used to be giving out the cup about now instead of just starting round 2.

If they don't win game 2 it's a wrap... I can't see them losing game 1 this way then losing game 2 and having a successful outcome.
It'll be a chalk this one up for next year and hopefully the kids learned w/some house money.

All of the pressure would have been on Carolina in G2 if we walked out of last night with a dub. Such a bad loss when we were 2:30 away from escaping with a win. The top line was missing the entire game (again). I just keep reverting back to Kakko missing that shot and how open it was, what a blown opportunity.

The one thing about this team all year has been their resiliency. After the crushing lost in round 1 G1, they came back and got it done. Need to win Friday and tie the series up. G3 at home with a 1-1 series would mean Sundays game at the Garden would be ELECTRIC. Come on boys

Raanta kept them in the game early. Let's hope he'll suck in game 2.

With some time to actually relax a little bit, I don’t think that game lies solely on Kakko, although he really does need to bury that.

The top two lines were fucking invisible AGAIN and Mika/Kreider line was responsible for Aho getting that goal.

I don’t understand what it is, but these top two lines just vanish for long stretches of play.

thats why we're only a GOOD team. not in the VERY GOOD (true SC winning threat) category. imo.

patchy in performance. THERE, absent, THERE, absent, absent et cet...

i can't get behind this. fact is... they hit the iron x2 before that. 2:30 from a SHUTOUT win.
odds on us shutting them out must have been astronomically against. we only scored 1, not good enough.

Gallant did the right thing putting the kids out for key shifts near the end of the game. If the Rangers are going to win this year it will be because the young line stepped up and became a major factor.

The problem the Rangers have right now is that a team can shut down the Z-Kreider line 5v5 if they make the game plan to do that. Add in the minutes they play and you get low-scoring games with Z-Kreider shut down and the opponent putting their best defensive guys out on the ice against them as much as they can. The further complication is that Z is the Rangers best defensive center and you really want him on the other guy's #1 line. So if the young guys start playing well Gallant will get a double benefit out of the improvement.

How can you possibly say something like this? What on earth did he accomplish in this game? FFS his line got the team's only goal and he failed to register an assist!

If what you are saying is true: this is the best game that the overall 2nd pick of the draft from three years ago ever had, then this is a damning condemnation that he is a complete bust.
