Now it's official New York Jets @nyjets 40s Geno Smith named Week 1 starter vs. Tampa Bay. http://bit.ly/genostartwk1 I know there was a lot of talk about this already but I don't trust "sources" from the NY media too much.
Well, I wish him and the Jets the best. But I still feel doubts about the best QB being on the field. Go Jets I guess.
Support the QB. As Rex says, It about the name on the side of the helmet not the back of the Jersey. He's OUR QB no matter what name is on the shirt.
It would be nice to have a little excitement, but based on the limited (and questionable) evidence from the preseason, it just feels underwhelming. But again, I hope they do well.
good luck to the young man.....colleague of mine just murmured that we are 1 step closer to simms.....
The question is do we have the personnel to protect him. A Jets win looks something like Geno throwing 15-20 times and Jets rushing for over 150 yards. 17-10 type game to win it. Heck, the jets win this way all the time so not out of the realm of possibility.
This was the worst QB competition I've ever seen. Both QBs get hurt and a third emerges and looks the best, but isn't the starter. I suppose I'd be fine with that if the incumbent ended up getting the job. But then the incumbent gets a raw deal and gets rocked to point of not being able to play. So politics (or practice skill) enters and the prized second rounder wins...by default. In the spirit of the best interest of the team, Let's Go Geno!
He has the tools to be an above average QB in this league. I trust Marty and David Lee. He needs to be protected and a little help from his receivers he should be just fine.
Oh, you must have been at the practices then and you still feel that way? Because everything I hear about the preseason says just the opposite minus that one game where he still had a somewhat bad ankle.
We all have known this for the past week or 2, but now that its official all I have to say is it's got me even more excited for opening day! I have supported Mark to the very end, but there is always a spark, a crazy vibe of excitement when a new beginning for your franchise is about to begin! I don't see us turning back to Sanchez, so from this point forward its Geno's time to shine...and I'll be rooting for him come Sunday at Jetlife.
