A WR that isn't getting much pub...Blair White. Slightly under the radar...with all the Shipley talk. I've seen White make play after play in the Big Ten. Had a great Senior Bowl week. Isn't fast, very big or a huge playmaker. White is an intelligent player that seems destined to be successful in the NFL. Blair White was a walk-on and busted his ass to be one of the best receivers in M-State history. Could be available to the Jets in rd 5, due lack of good #s at the combine. I don't expect White to light up the 40. Smart player who was an excellent baseball player. An excellent option as a #3 slot WR!!! I love how being Caucasian is listed as one of his weaknesses. Definitely an intriguing prospect, and in the later rounds you can't be choosy, but I'd love if we took a receiver at that point in the draft if he could return punts as well.
What scares me about B White...I think D-Ware loved the guy. All kidding aside, White may turn out to be a solid possession guy in the NFL.
It basically forgives all shortcomings and gives you 9 lives to prove your worth. You have your entire career to prove your worth as a white receiver. Years later, no matter how bad you were, people will still wish you were on the team. That being said, I really wish Tim Dwight never got hurt. He was awesome.
Tim Dwight was an awesome ST player. Off topic, I coached a T-Ball team a few years ago and one of my players had to go to Iowa for a special spinal surgery. Tim Dwight came to his hospital room for a visit. The parents mentioned "what a great guy". Dwight was a NY Jet at the time and told Dwight their T-ball coach was a huge NY Jet Fan.
Looks like a player. and 6'2". It kind of eats way at the question I was going to ask. You're Tanny on the clock. Taylor Mays and Golden Tate are both on the board...gun to your head...Which izit? I think Mays can be coached up, and with his stock dropping...But that 4.36 from the slot?
I love Blair White, any chance I've had to see him this year he's really impressed me. He was outstanding in the bowl game against Texas Tech, showed some really nice speed too. As for his combine, he did really well. 1st among all WRs in 20 yd shuttle, 2nd in 60 yd shuttle, and 3rd in 3-cone, and capped it with a very respectable 4.50 40.
Is okay if I say neither? I'd rather trade back. I like Golden Tate a lot, but I'd rather acquire more picks. Last week, Mike Mayock mentioned that at least 1/4 of the teams in this league have Taylor Mays listed as a linebacker on their boards. Taylor Mays received some of the best coaching in the country at Southern Cal. His mediocre coverage skills have nothing to do with coaching. The guy's more athletic than most receivers and corners. Mays is just a hitter, and that's why I've been saying for months that he should move to linebacker.
Golden tate won't last to #29. Slot WR...speed isn't as important. I want my slot guy to have quick feet for separation, great hands and be intelligent to read the defense.
1/4 of the teams on the board don't have two things we have. Rex Ryan. And a FS named Sherry. In this defense, Mays could be the player Rhodes refuses to be. His weakness is in letting plays get at/behind him. That doesn't happen here. (Ginn/Rhodes play notwithstanding)
You're right. 1/4 of the teams in this league have safeties that are worse than Kerry Rhodes...so it's pretty scary that these teams are listing Mays as a linebacker. Taylor Mays allows players to get behind him because he constantly over-pursues. That is coachable, but the lack of play making ability isn't. I'm not the biggest fan of Kerry Rhodes, but at least he has some kind of play making ability.
I agree about speed not being important. But it is a plus.... (I posted that Tate won't last till 29 after running 4.36 on another thread) I was curious about the situation arising, where other teams needs left value (that we could certainly use) on the board .... Personally I think Cody would be good at 29 (he's 36 on your 50, but other teams needs obviously might have him going north of there....) He could spell Jenkins, and groom under him. And my God....if you decided to line up 4/3... Right now....I think he's the guy we need..(IF available.) If Jenkins is healthy, the AFCC goes the otherway.
I have to disagree there. there is no worse football player than one that's highly paid, and thinks he's still good, though he no longer works at it.
I didn't know Kris Jenkins played corner? I'm a big fan of Mount Cody, but I'd rather get a more versatile defensive lineman: UNC's Cam Thomas is a favorite of mine. If we draft a lineman high, I'd like to see him play some defensive end and nose. Mount Cody doesn't have great athleticism, so his only real value is at nose. I think Cody is the best pure nose tackle in this draft, but I'd rather get a player that can contribute at multiple positions.
Maybe you just don't watch enough football ? If Jenkins is collapsing the pocket...Manning is A:Running for his life, and B: well out of his comfort zone. That game wasn't decided till Shonn got hurt and we couldn't keep the ball. Jenkins presence on the other side of the ball would have compensated for that. And, I feel foolish point this out, but yes...a dominant NT makes your corners better.
