It makes sense. Since when has Joe Douglas ever shown his hand? We never heard a peep during the Aaron Rodgers saga. Broderick Jones was the deke and Belichick fell for it. JD the three dimensional chess guru strikes again. Still hope McDonald flattens Mac next season. Go Jets.
Start at 23:30. Joe asked how the board looks McDonald vs Jones vs Mayer. Response: 1. McDonald 2. Mayer 3. Broderick. It sounds like he had these 3 guys pretty high. McD higher, so it appears it's true that they would have picked him anyway even with Jones. But they were thinking of picking Mayer at 15? Ended up going in the second round. All I can say is let's hope JD is right and Jones sucks, while McD is a beast.
I wonder how much vodka was in that cup Woody was holding as he stumbled into the draft room on day 2. Okay, vodka and albino pygmy mole rat blood.
You mean to tell me all the pissing and moaning about the pick swap was actually for no reason? Who could have seen that coming?
You are so desperate for them to want Jones….. the question wasn’t how he had them ranked on his big board… he literally followed up saying where he thought they were being picked. You Jones for Jones. Get help.
Hahahahahahahahaha. Everyone who went bananas over the Steelers moving up and calling JD a moron needs to come get their crow. Armchair GMs baby
The Jets…-Telling everyone how much they love Broderick Jones-Including pick swap with Packers in Rodgers trade so they’re behind division rivals-Allow Steelers to leap them-Reaching for Will McDonald…is why they’re the Jets.— Ross Tucker (@RossTuckerNFL) April 28, 2023 Yawn
The mental gymnastics some people do is exhausting. Edit: I’ve read some posts by fans saying that scene was done later and edited in so JD could save face.
I've seen a few tweets suggesting the same. Fucking ludicrous. No team would ever sign off on that and no legitimate director, producer, whatever would even consider doing it without the blessing of the boss. Some people aren't happy unless they have something to be unhappy about.
The Pats forfeited significant value on all the charts so 1. Pittsburgh has to call to propose a trade and 2. the trade has to be good enough to accept.
The fact that he was able to know who might trade up with the Pats tells me that maybe he had been talking to them already. He's not some wizard, all of the GMs communicate so I think the Steelers probably shut him down in trade talks because he was asking for the moon and the Pats lowballed him. These little snippets showing him predicting stuff leaves out hours of phone calls.
byz, What you say is true but what the clip showed proved what was said after the draft. Jets brass had McDonald ahead of the Brody Jones and they would still pick McDonald even if Jones was still available.
Who cares about predicting, I'd say most GMs have a good idea of where players are going (as evidenced by this) and who is interested in who. The most important thing to me is that we know the board so the outrage from fans/media that the Jets overplayed their hand with Jones and the "unnecessary" pick swap cost them Jones , wah wah wah, was pure bullshit and wrong. If you want to question JD's board that's ok but all of the extraneous LOL SAME OLD JETS is completely invalid.
Q: How do you rank, pizza vs tacos vs subs A: tacos, pizza, then subs Some people: KRs 3rd favorite food in the world to eat is Subs
Based on the information we have, he thought McDonald would be gone in the top 12… why would he want to trade back and risk missing out on him?
