I'm all about AJ Hawk at #4. I don't see any reason to trade 2 #1's to get Leinert until we see what Ramsey has (I think he's a gamer folks). I also see no reason to go OL at #4, barring a truly exceptional player/weak draft. So in my book DBrick is out.

Think about it, Hawk and Vilma in the middle? Sign a Sam Adams fat bastard-type player and this defense is scary (although I still think we need a CB). We can then address Offense in later picks.

Mario might be a good selection at 4, but I don;t think he's still there. Also, is he a good fit in the 3-4? Can anyone tell me their thoughts about him in our presumed new defense?

Even if we sign Hopkins or Runyan at RT we should definitely go for D'Brick if hes there at #4. Imagine Runyan and D'Brick at the tackles.

If hes not we should get Mario williams or trade down and get Lawson who would be great for the 3-4

Where's the upgrade? Losing John Abraham, Ty Law and Kevin Mawae and replacing them with what upgrades?

Its super mario at number four and mangold at number 29. Mario is a freak of nature with all the intangibles and he is a scary 3-4 olb and 4-3 DE. He can stop the run, defend the pass, and put scary pressure on the opposing QB. Mangold is the best center in this draft.

signing Runyan would be an upgrade.

although, knowing you, you'd somehow rationalize that it isn't.

    cheers

JAbe the one dimensional man being gone is an upgrade in my eyes. He didn't want to be here, was never healthy when ya needed him, and has had some off the field problems, and doesn't fit the mold of the player the organization wants... see ya, and not a moment to soon

Ty Law... Ty Law is over valued by everyone on the planet, including Ty Law. He's on the wrong side of 30, gets entirely to many penalties, and doesn't cover as well as he used to. He had 10 picks last year... it happens. There have been guys in the NFL that get 5,6,7 picks in a season, and then it takes them 7 years to get the next 7. He's gone and I'm glad... didn't deserve 11 million next year.

Kevin Mawae??? Are you serious. He's been the most over rated center in football the last 2 years. Another player on the wrong side of 30, and declining rapidly. The bigger NT's eat his lunch, thats why we were blocking NT's with our Guards and he was pulling... he just couldn't do it. He's a finess lineman, and somehow, new management just doesn't personify "finess" in any way... another player I'm glad is no longer here...

I see Runryan and Ramsey as upgrades. In other words, we can address OL later in the draft.

I also see Kimo and Ellis not necessarily as an upgrade over Abe, but a better fit to the 3-4 defense.

Funny but you are the first person I've ever heard refer to Ramsey at a "gamer."

I don't think Ramsey even refers to himself as a "gamer."

    Cautious optimism folks...

Pick an LT when you already have a solid one? Wasted pick.

In my opinion, Runyan = Fabini. He is not the answer, we still need a solid rookie.

Except Runyan is very good, and Fabini has been total crap for 2-3 years.

Sorry, but I gotta go with Rambo on this one. Runyan is adequate just as Fabini was, however he shouldn't be here for more than a year, year and half just to get our rookie ready. He's a solid run blocker, and the problem with Fabini lately is that he has nagging injuries (bad back, bad knees). Runyan is a healthy Fabini, while not bad, isn't that good.

    Runyan = Fabini???

Not a chance my man. Runyan has been a dominant OT at times during his carreer, and the only DE that regularly ate him up was Strahan. That can be said about many an OT in the league who have faced Mr. Strahan.

Fabini regularly got beaten by average pass rushers off the edge, and never really excelled at any one facet of the game. He was serviceable at best.

Runyan is a huge upgrade from Fabini, even at his age.

Too bad Detroit has no interst in trading with us to move up to the 4 slot, and Vernon Davis will be gone in the top 7 picks...

    thanx for playing though

Fabini hasn't been healthy for years now, that's the problem. When healthy, he was very good. Runyan is basically Fabini from 3-4 years ago, when Fabini was still a very good tackle with a good back and good knees. Runyan is slightly better at this point than Fabini was then, too.

Runyan has always been better then fabini. I have always like Fabini when he was healthy, but that was a while ago.
