A great comeback win, corrected the mental errors and completely shut down a good Chargers offense second half Offense was good today and but for the hold call we are comfortable winners Plax was the red zone threat we wanted, greene ran hard and our corners played lights out. Run defense is still a concern and our safeties scare the fuck out of me but 4-3 and moving in the right direction. If we correct the coverage errors we are a threat to all involved Oh and my hotel mini bar is empty!! Enjoy your Sunday!
Safety play is still subpar at best. But we sure as hell played a stellar second half. If we play like we did in the second half, for the rest of the year, we are going to be an incredibly formidable team going forward. Hopefully the bye week gets us healthy, and then we can finally get a win after the bye under Rex.
We put it together for the first time this season in the second half; it was unexpected and great to see. That said, this is what this team is and has been for two years: talented enough to contend, far from talented enough to dominate. We have a great coaching staff (yes, even if you include Schotty, though his inconsistency pulls the average down) which has led us further than we should have gone, and might take us there again if we don't have any more major injuries. Until Mark can take a game over by himself, we'll be sometime world-beaters. This is only a problem, however, for the people who buy into Rex's brand-building: I'll take these three years over any period in Jets history bar one. This Jets team is fun.
+1. The stadium crowd was electric today, more high-fiving in the stairways and parking lots after the game ended than any game I can remember. What a relief.....looks like the Jets we know are back (crosses fingers) and if we can come out of the bye explosively, look out, we're right in there again. SAR I
That 2nd half was the best the Jets has looked all year. Even when we were blowing out the Jags in week 2 we looked sloppy. I really dont have much to complain about this week, the defense made plays at crucial times, like getting a few key 3 and outs and getting turnovers. Sanchez stepped up and Shonne Greene and Plax looked like they belonged in the NFL. Offensive line played well too. I hope this is what we see from this team going forward.
It looks as if the team is starting to focus back on taking it one game at a time. Thank you God for letting the Jets have Rex Ryan as head coach.
Huge schotty hater here, but he called a hell of a game today. Disappointed he called a run on the 2nd and goal at the end of the game (play action woulda been a td) but he shut up the haters for at least a week.
And the 1st charger TD was a freak play anyway. Nobodys fault. Without that they actually only scored 14.
Tweaked his ankle they kept him out for the game with bye week he should be back against Buffalo hopefully starting again he's versatility is phenomenal
I only got to watch the 4th quarter unfortunately so I'm relying on highlights, but did we play that good of a game? (and no that's not sarcastic) I know we're comeback kings but from viewing this thread, you'd think we dominated the Chargers, or is it just that much of an improvement of how we've been playing? Edit: I also wonder how much of this is Schotty making a good game vs. Tom Moore basically stepping in, etc. Not to sound like a mindless Schotty hater, but the first game Tom Moore participates, the offense starts to click?
Honestly, the entire game was dominated by us, from a TOP standpoint early on downwards. We were moving the ball early, then the flukey int/fumble thing with Keller led to a defensive td. then we drive all the way down the field, penalties stall us out, we get 3, then our defense actually gets on the field, 3 and out, then we go down score a TD to holmes, which is called back on a Mangold holding, then sanchez INT. Chargers go down the field and score, we drive down the field TD to plax. Then SD goes down and scores just before the half. After that it was all Jets. I honestly think if the holding penalty isnt called on the TD, we might have run away with it. but winning the way we did was pretty impressive, the comeback was great. It probably did a lot more for the confidence of this team than a blowout (34-10) probably would have.
Thanks for the wrap-up. The NFL never really justifies how a game truly was played in the highlights, unfortunately I just had to work though. If everything you said really transpired, then that's awesome to hear and I desperately want to know what the hell happened between last week and this week in terms of team chemistry and strategy.
They scored their 1st TD on a freak play and we had a great play by Holmes for a TD called back for a hold on Mangold. That's a 14 point swing. We also had a drive that we started at midfield to be killed by penalties including a weird one on Mangold. We gained 11 yards on that 1st down play but it was called back. Quite honestly if things break differently on a few plays we probably win 34-14 or something like that.
Great game and things have started to come around. Undefeated at home, Bye week is officially here so they can rest up and heal. Then get ready for the road game at Buffalo.
