He's a living legend, we had a winning record, and I'd like to think injuries beat us down the stretch in what could have been a remarkable season. So, I am. Plus (on the most superficial of levels), having been "gifted" with his jersey @ Christmas days before his last game "ever" - I know I'll be wearing it at least one more time the day he goes into the Hall, regardless of how meaningless it might be upon a reflection of his career. Had he ended it as a Viking, the jersey would never leave the closet.
Last season was certainly more entertaining than it would have been without Favre on the roster. Up until game 12 or so it was the most entertaining season the Jets have had since 1998. I'd rather we spent the time figuring out what Kellen Clemens was, but I enjoyed the show nonetheless.
one of my favorite players. It was nice to see him on our team. i think most people blame him solely for the collapse and won't think of any happy memories. Ah, the sour Jets fan.
Plus One! He still plans on throwing for the next few weeks (After training camp concludes) and the Vikes have left the door open for him to return. He hates Training camp, look for him to change his mind in a few weeks. Even Rich and Jamie dukes were besides themselves tonight when Steve "Mooch" gave a report that he spoke to Brett and he was still planning to throw and get into shape. Until the first game is played, Brett isnt retired. Yawn........
I've hated Favre and the overzealous praise that has been heaped upon him for a few years now. He's a selfish asshole and I still can't take the site of him him in a Jets jersey. And he's retiring as a free agent. We cut him.
Well said. Favre was all about me me me. Like everyone else I jumped on the bandwagon when we laced the Titans but his shortcomings were evident down the stretch especially in Frisco where a rookie outgunned him. Good riddance.
I'd have been more entertained had we won the division and last season had a few fun games but overall wasn't very entertaining. The NE, Ten and Ari games(thanks to the D forcing a million TOs) were entertaining. There wasn't much to be entertained by the 3 losses and the way we beat teams like Cincy and KC.
but he was allowing Shaun Hill to look like Montana... I personally find it easier to blame him. speaking of which, he's still a coach on this team. I'll have to create a thread sometime before the season voicing my displeasure of that decision.
Even though he got hurt and came apart at the end of last season, I'm still glad he was a Jet, and retires a Jet. Favre is one of the all-time greats, and it was a thrill for me that he played for my team.
Sometimes your O has to take pressure off your D, our D was keeping us in every game up until that point. There's no doubt the D crumbled a bit down the stretch but we lost b/c our O stunk. The only game we won we needed our D to score a TD in the last 2 mins and our D created 4 TOs against a bad Bills team. The next week opur O scored 3 pts all day while our D allowed just 13. Week 17 our D gave up 17 and we lost 24-17 b/c Favre gave a TD to a DL.
What everybody should be glad about is that he retired from the Jets when he did and didn't put the Jets through what he just put Minnesota through. We would be starting the season with Clemens and Ratliff as our only hope at QB.
Look at his numbers for the last five years. Yea the yards are up there but so is the INT column. If anyone who started playing in New York put up those numbers, he'd be sent back through Ellis Island on a boat bound for the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
