College Football Now on NFL Network just discussed Weis future... Most reports have him being bought out this year and Brian Kelly of Cincinnati and even Urban Myers of Florida are the two names targeted, even though Myers said no before.

I don't care who the coach is, bring this team back to where they were - A bowl appearance every year.

ndmick...i am a big nd fan, going to notre dame and i take it that you are as well. I don't see nd ever getting back to where the were. High school studs want to go to Califorinia and Florida. However, they do need a coaching change. Weis has enough talent on this team to be a top 25 team. Hes not getting the job done and needs to be replaced.

Calling for his head already? You have to give the guy at least one more season to turn it around...he lost almost every starter after that first year. Willinghamm set that team up for failure.

There was poor depth at almost every position. Clausen hasn't turned out to be the star everyone hoped. Give the kid a MEDIOCRE offensive line and he'll put up decent numbers. Clausen and Armando Allen have had god awful blocking from day one...games are won in the trenches and Notre Dame is losing that battle in almost every game.

Sure it's partially Weis' fault...but think about how incredibly bad the Fighting Irish would be without him - No Jimmy Clausen, Armando Allen, Golden Tate, Michael Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, Gary Gray, Harrison Smith, Steve Paskorz, Dayne Crist, and so on and so on. He's had some great recruiting classes over the past 3 years. Let him build his team...

Oh yeah, if you get rid of Weis, you can kiss 5 star running back commit Cierre Wood goodbye.

The upshot of that, is that is Crennell gets fired, Maybe Schottinthefoot goes to Cleveland, we could bring in Crennell and Weis....

Weis would be good to have to bring along Ratliffe and Clemens should Favre only go one or two years...

...because Weis and Crennell would want to work under a guy that was their bitch for most of their careers.

Weis deserves this. He was the one who benefited the most from Belly's spying.

I was watching the Notre Dame/Navy game at work in that downpour and this guy at work who knows very little about sports, says Weis needs a towel.

My friend says "That's not from the rain...That's sweating since he's about to lose his job."

I hate the.. he needs to build his team argument, he's had 4 years, almost everyone on the team he recruited, look at top teams like USC, FLA, OK, TEX, they have a ton of turnover with their best players leaving early. Though it isn' t realy fair to make comparisons to top teams since ND hasn;t been an elite program in decades, they aren't even as good as BC anymore, if they played in a major conference they'd lose it every year, even a league like the MAC they probably couldnt win

Weiss sucks plain and simple, but ND will screw up the hiring of a new coach just like they did before. They should have stayed with O'Leary even after it came out he faked his resume. Just make him give back 10% of his salary as punishment, that handles the whole holier than thou thing. Unhiring O'Leary, hiring Gerry Faust, Weiss and Losingham show this school just doesn't know how to hire a good coach. Its the same thing with the Jets, if they fire Mangini it just means the next coach will be Dean Peas.

I doubt its the coach so much as that really talented kids want to play for good programs. At this point in time, it might be safe to say that the only kids going to ND are the ones whos fathers and mothers went there. Real ballers are heading to Tx, Fla and CA baby!

    recognize!!

He's got the talent to succeed. He's not succeeding. That means the coach isn't doing his job. End of story.

To say Willingham set this team up for failure I thought was true at one point, but that's proving to not be the case at all. Willingham just couldn't coach worth a damn. Weis can coach a little and can definitely recruit, but his ability to coach is really starting to show. His arrogance works on grown men, not kids. I'm not convinced he ever deserved this job (although at the time that I was there, I was thrilled to be getting a new head coach and it was awesome having a couple winning seasons like we did). Now I watch the team and see a lot of talent not being put to its proper use. His line has been formed, he's got very good WRs, solid RBs, and top line recruit at QB, and this is the product? Give me a break. I'd be willing to give him another year if he wasn't such an arrogant prick, but that just makes me want him at ND even less. Obviously if Urban Meyer wants in, you take him, you move on, no question at all. He can coach and recruit. Simple solution. If not him, I don't mind the idea of the guy from Cincy one bit. Risky? Maybe a little because it's tough to commit to a coach on a short leash which is what ND would be demonstrating by firing Weis, but intriguing nonetheless. It's not like ND's going anywhere right now with their top recruits. Bring in a fresh coach. I'm very disappointed that wasn't the decision that was made.

He's had his 4 years and he still isn't winning. i hate ND, so i hope they keep him. Weis used to be the coach of Morristown HS and they are one of my HS rivals (Roxbury). We went 2-2 against them in my HS career.
