Chris Mortenson reported on ESPN radio that he's heard from multiple sources that Woody is pushing the coaching staff to start Tebow. If this is true, then we are so fucked even beyond this season. This peckerhead owner needs to STFU and leave the football operations to the experts and focus on selling baby poweder and band-aids. This guy is a complete clown and will ruin this team if he keeps this shit up. He will end up looking worse than the Wilpons.
I don't think it is so bad. Not because Tebow is better than Sanchez but because Sanchez deserves to be benched until he can get his act together.
Yes, because the experts have really been rocking it lately. It's Week 4 and we've had a dozen threads about firing Tanny already. Woody might not be the guy I want making my football decisions, but in a 50/50 proposition, his guess is as good as Tanny's. Anyway, once again, it comes down to the fact that nobody could be significantly worse than Sanchez has been this season. Out of 32 quarterbacks, he's 30th in passer rating, 32nd in completion percentage, and 29th in yards per attempt. If the owner, the GM, the coach, or anyone else wants the backup to be given a shot -- it's hard to really argue with that.
Don't you realize that once Tebow is put in, there's no turning back. What are they going to do? Put Tebow in one game and then return to Sanchez? Seriously, lets be real. A few things can happen: 1. We put in Tebow, he performs adequately...enough of a decent performance to make it noticeable to the fans and media alike that maybe he should start...leading to an even bigger QB controversy (after we've already invested in Sanchez for the next few years) 2. We put in Tebow and he stinks. We go back to Sanchez, who's pissed off that he was benched for a crappy QB who can only run the option. Sanchez does one of 2 things: (1) Plays awesome because he's mad OR (2) Plays shitty because he can't keep his mind off being benched again 3. We put in Tebow and he plays outstanding, we get wins with him, he leads us to the playoffs...where we get knocked off. Now, we have a dilemna for next year - keep Tebow (who won't be happy being benched) or keep Sanchez (who won't be happy regardless because he feels he's been slighted by the Jets organization, and more specifically Woody Johnson) This cannot be a good ending any way you spin it. More importantly, it has the chance to spiral so quickly out of control and will end up being a feeding frenzy for the NY Media. My advice: Keep Sanchez. Let the kid finish playing the season. Use Tebow more often, but don't give him the starting spot. If Woody Johnson is so inclined to start Tebow, he's doing it for one reason only - to sell more seats and/or make more money off the Tebow circus. What a friggin mess we're in.
Hes turning into Jerry Jones yet 10x more clueless. Woody does not know football at all. Most of us probably understand the x and o better than him.
this is false because even the owner knows starting Tebow will lead to few wins due to the D not being present.
I had a bad feeling that this was inevitable from the day we heard that the Jets were getting Tebow. The only thing that could have prevented it was if Mark stepped up, and instead he's stepped into dogshit. Woody is the worst owner in the NFL right now. I'd rather have the clowns running Miami at this point.
Suppose the backup QB wasn't Tebow, but another decent QB? You would assume that your starter is better than the backup. Then maybe you would bring in the backup if the starter is having a particularly bad game. That's still a tough call to make. Either way, if Sanchez doesn't improve, he should be replaced.
This has been rumored on the sport sites all week and it is probably all coming from that ridiculous article Cimini wrote on Monday where he actually says he hasn't heard it himself. Anyway, whether Woody pushes it or not this will be Sanchez's last start for awhile if he has another game like his last three Monday night.
Woody Johnson if this is true, I will only buy Johnson and Johnson products from now on. About time somebody in this organization got a set and wants to win!!!!!
I wish more people could do that and just eliminate the Tebow-element from the equation. If John Skelton were our backup, would there be such a vocal defense of Sanchez? If you have a QB that won a decent amount of games last year, and you have a current starter that is giving you absolute dead-last type production, why not make the switch? Why keep pretending the starter is "the future"? I'm fine with one more chance for Sanchez. But if he stinks up the next game as badly as he's stunk up the previous 3, it's time to address the QB position in one way or another.
Isn't it obvious? Between the strange and agressive acquisition, Woody's comments about "not having enough Tebow", and his 180 on Sanchez I'd say its pretty obvious at this point Woody is the driving force behind Tebow. It really sucks that as Jets fans we are subjected to terrible ownership. That's about the worst thing imaginable. Between Hess and this jackass its like torture. Johnson wouldn't make a pimple on his grandfather's ass. Eat Shit Woody.
If this is true. Rex Ryan needs to resign and stand up to Woody its the only way if he ever wants to coach again in the NFL.
Woody has been an alright owner who has become obsessed with Tebow almost to the detriment of the team. I say give Sanchez the chance to come out of his funk. Ic he can't do so within the next 3 games then bench him.
I had a bad feeling Tebow was a Woody move but this would be very, very bad if true. If the guy is going to start telling the CS who to play that's detrimental to this team ever being successful under Woody. If true, Rex should tell him he is going to resign as the HC of the NYJ.
