I agree with the posters who say there's no way we send a draft pick plus Abe to Detroit for their #9. Trading Abe creates yet another hole for the team to fill, a critical one, since 94/56 seems to be the only pass rusher on the team. The dealing of Abe only really satisfies Abe's needs. We're given up a proven commodity to take a chance on an unproven draft pick for less money. I'm starting to come around to the idea that it's in our best interests to just keep the bastard and make him play for his 8 million. That being said, I would pull the trigger on a trade for a top 10 pick straight up.
good point, we could keep abe and tell him hes playing for how much money he will get next year but i just dont think an amazing end would do us any good, its not our defense that is struggling, its our O. Thats why im on board to trade him for a top 15 pick and take 2 offensive players [preferably guys who can come in and play right away(not cutler)]
Thank You!!! The ONLY way I would accept trading Abe AND the 3rd round pick is if we've already traded away the #4 for their 1st, 2nd and a 5th round pick
You guys have completely overrated John Abraham's value. Keep in mind that whatever team trades for him also has to give him at least a $15 million signing bonus. Abraham has not proven that he can stay on the field or that he will give 100% ever play. He also bitches to the media about the organization among other things. Not to mention his DWI. No chance in hell another team gives up a top 15 pick straight up for this POS. This isn't madden.
exactly, abe for the 9 straight up would be an absolute steal....i wouldnt mind giving up a 3rd to get it done...that whole 1st 4th and 5th scenario is really being kinda foolish......last week people were willing to take the 29 pick for abe...now the 9 is the only acceptable trade...way overrating abe as a commodity....id still be shocked if the lions gave us the 9 for abe and a 3rd
yeah, the 29th and that's it. Not giving up a pick also. That's being foolish. Personally I think you guys are overrating the #9 pick and underrating Abe's value to other teams. I'd rather take the 29 for abe than the 9 and losing our 3rd round pick
Going back a few months, I wonder who the Jets will take with that first round pick they got from the Chiefs for Herman Edwards?
you are sooo right I will take any 1st round pick for abe straight up and LOVE IT because I dont think that he is worth more then that, if even that.
At this point, you take what you can get for Abraham, provided it's in the first round. You have some wiggle room to trade up or trade down with the two first rounders, and Abraham doesn't want to be here. Unless someone like Matt Millen is stupid enough to make you a top fifteen deal, you have to take what you can get. Most teams know that Abraham, while exciting, has his limits. His health concerns are not disproven by one good year and honestly, he's not Jason Taylor. -X-
We think alot more about Abe than the talking heads do I can tell you that much. Listened to the Afternoon Blitz yesterday and a JETS caller asked about trading for Schaub. Anyway, Schein was saying we would have to send Abe AND a 2nd to get Schaub. Riggins thought maybe a straight up swap would do it, or Abe and a 4th or 5th. Are we that delusional?
