IUPUI's Akwasi Owusu-Ansah ran a 4.31 as a guest at Ohio State's pro day. He also put up 21 bench reps.

I'm still waiting to here the results for Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes.

Troy pass rushing prospects Brandon Lang and Cameron Sheffield both ran disappointing 40 times in the 4.8s.

TCU's Jerry Hughes supposedly looked good in drills again. Teammate Daryl Washington's stock keeps rising after a great pro day.

Rodger Saffold performed extremely well in drills at Stanford's pro day.

Oregon's TE Ed Dickson ran well again (4.61).

Here's a small school prospect to keep an eye on: super productive Southern Illinois running back Deji Karim. He ran a 4.37 at his pro day at 210 pounds. He also recorded a 42 inch vertical.

Cincy's WR Mardy Gilyard improved his 40 time, running a 4.47.

Buffalo's WR Naaman Roosevelt ran a very unimpressive 4.60 at his pro day.

I think Akwasi goes as high as the 2nd round with phenomenal numbers like that...

agreed mr. e, can't wait to find out Barnes numbers

What type of numbers would he need to post to get into the top 3 rounds?

To move any higher than the third round, Barnes would probably have to have to run something in the 4.4s and jump out of the stadium in the vertical.

He's expected to run in the 4.6s, and if he does that...he'll probably go late fourth or early fifth.

    Definitely.

AOA has immediate value as a return specialist, and his amazing 40 time will only get him more looks.

Gilyard has that look of a trusty WR. The way he runs and catches the ball. I don't know how dynamic he can be, but he'll be trusted.

Ansah is making a case for the middle of round 2.

    Future Oakland Raider?

And I'm starting to warm up to the idea of Jerry Hughes as an OLB

AOA actually has talent to go along with the speed.

He is the type of player Al Davis would reach for - kind of like Stanford Routt a few years ago.

    I'm not. I like him as a 4-3 end.

Freddie Barnes best 40 time today was a 4.58, which is pretty good. His 31 inch vertical is well below average, but he supposedly looked very, very good in receiving drills.

Barnes didn't do enough to jump into the third round. He'll more than likely be a fifth or sixth rounder now.

If he's there with our 5th good... but as of now I'm kind of hoping Shipley falls to our 4th...

I'd take Barnes over Shipley in a split second.

Just because I went to SIU, I would love to get another Saluki to go with Bart Scott!

When do you think he might get drafted...or his he a UDFA?

Karim had excellent production at SIU to go along with his great measurables.

I think he'll get drafted. ...probably in the sixth or seventh round.

People are really starting to heat up on Karim. He's got a great running back body to go with that speed, my bet is that there's a lot of people wondering how this kid found his way into the 4th/5th round.

And for AOA, he was smart to run in Columbus, that track is lightning. There, VaTech and Florida are pretty much going to guarantee knockout times.

re Karim: we definitely have a thing for small-conference RBs, too. Just sayin.

IIRC, Gilyard did a little bit of everything for Cincinnati last year. Without looking, I'm reasonably sure that he ran back kicks as well as playing WR.

I just can't remember what the knock on him is (bad hands? doesn't run a 4.3 40?) Someone please remind me.

I hope you're not talking about Danny Woodhead.

    Shonn Greene: Iowa (Big 10)

    Leon Washington: Florida State (ACC)

    LaDainian Tomlinson: Mountain West (TCU)

Timed speed, skinny build, and a gimmick system.
