Lou is F'ing this up. I could see him doing this in Tampa here he's been for years and had a team of young players... but to turn to such drastic measures so quickly on a vet team has to be discouraging to his players. I mean we're 50 games deep and his team is only 7 games out in a weak division ... why go into total panic mode so early when clearly this is the team he's stuck with (and presumably hand picked in the off season). How do you turn this around when you’ve already blown it all away and questioned your own players? I'm all for passion in sports but this is ridiculous... he's already lost his team.
The Cubs are pathetic. D-Lee aside, none of them have come to play every day and all of them are underachieving. Piniella was just acting out the way every Cub fan is feeling. The likes of Floyd, Jones, Murton, Pagan, Izturis, de Rosa, Barrett, Ward, Soriano, Zambrano, Hill, Eyre, Howry, Ohman, Wuertz, Dempster, even Ramirez, Lilly and Theriot need to pull the finger out and do it fast.
Yep, and it's going to cost Mr Hendry his job unless things miraculously turn around - Felix Pie is his last hope. Also, hopefully he can trade Zambrano at the deadline for something worthwhile.
