This season has been a success. I mean seriously who thought we would have been this relevant? We are flawed but still very young. Plus, injuries and we can still make the playoffs. I'm gonna enjoy the rest of this blessing of a season. Blueprint is here infront of us. I'm excited for the future for once. Mike White should be the starter for next year as well, just announce it already.
This season has been a success. As an organization having Hall and Vera-Tucker injured, switching Qb's and finding out if White is the guy. All of this and boneheaded loses to the Patriots, we still have a chance to the playoffs. I'm actually good if we don't. This team is still a work in progress, but god damn we've exceeded expectations. Let's just enjoy the ride and look forward to the future. Nobody thought this was a Super Bowl team after all.
The team/organization is in better shape than it’s been in years from top to bottom. I’ll be disappointed if they miss the playoffs but the ability to be disappointed about it in late December means progress is being made. A few things that I’d like to see happen by next season: 1. Figure out if White is the guy and if it’s still unclear by the end of the season bring someone in to have a legitimate QB completion during training camp. 2. Saleh and crew need to learn from their mistakes. Starting Wilson for too long, very publicly putting guys in the dog house, designing plays for guys like Berrios in crunch time, etc. All that crap needs to go away by next year (and it can take Berrios with it). 3. Analyze the injury issue. Some injuries are freak occurrences and cant be avoided but the Jets are one of the most injury prone teams in the league over the past decade+ (going by the injury report anyway). Edit: Looking just at last seasons injury reports 7/10 of the most injured teams missed the playoffs.
No..I didn’t think we would do anything after the Team play early on I am an old time Fan and 55 years is too long a wait for a Championship But yes I get it ..we have improved in the attitude and in other areas but the QB is still a big Q mark the whole team is emotionally behind Mike W ..but can he deliver?? He can only go so far without a OL protecting him
My guess is Saleh will announce a QB competition in TC/preseason between White-Wilson to see who wins the job as the starting QB for 2023. White (assuming he is healthy enough) should start every game for the rest of this year. Wilson not Flacco should be the back-up.
The only difference is this team has some young core pieces, Williams, Reed, Gardner, Wilson, Hall, Tucker, who knows with Becton, btw is he out for next season yet? This team started off dreadful, started winning games, has a chance to move into first place, play our arch nemesis, a game we should have won, loses it, beats the Bills a team we had no business beating, everyone thinks we are a powerhouse, just to flop again against the Patriots, then the Vikings game, battle's back, 2 chances to win the game flops again, in reality, I don't see any of the remaining games we're winning, dolphins, no way, lions no chance, Jaguars perhaps But the fanbase will proclaim we are ahead of schedule? What schedule? We've been the laughing stock of the NFL for at least 5 decades, you call this progress, I call it the Same old Jets
to me, this season is a success if they figure out who the qb is for next year. If they get in playoffs with Mike White - he will be the guy next year. if they miss, that means he didn't play well enough to get it done and now since Zack failed, we will be searching for a vet next year with questions. The narrative of a playoff team with Mike white and Zack as a backup going into next year will be way better then " Mike isnt resigned cause he couldnt get it done and now the jets have Zack competing with a vet and still have no answers.
Agreed. As another poster pointed out, maybe a smidge early as they're still very much in playoff contention, but good to keep things in perspective and prepare for missing the playoffs. Maybe some Jets fan self-protection from inevitable disappointment? This season has been a success. I have varying degrees of critiques/things to improve on all over, but as a whole, I'm pleasantly surprised by what this whole team has done and think they're legitimately on the right track and are operating as a competent franchise with a blueprint for longterm success, top down. Every team has injuries, but you have to wonder if two of those injuries weren't to their two best players on offense where they'd be. While I also think Mike White has the traits of a legitimate starting QB in the NFL, there's no reason to anoint him next year's starter right now. My opinion may well change in the next four weeks, but as it stands now, I'd of course bring back Mike White and have him and Wilson compete for the job. Now if MW continues to play very well (and IMO he has played very well since becoming a starter) and leads them into the playoffs, maybe his grip on the job strengthens. If his play is more middling and they miss the playoffs, it's certainly a competition next year. He's not as mobile as you'd like and he doesn't have a rocket arm (though he makes quality deep throws and outs that indicate an NFL-caliber arm and wonder if playcalling as a factor. He's not Pennington), but otherwise he's not missing anything else. Poise, football intelligence, decision-making, accuracy, leadership, toughness are all plus traits. Those are big deals
Jets are about middle of the pack for injuries, just seems like more since you pay more attention to them. This covers from 2009-2021 but gives a good indication.
Breece Hall, a healthy AVT (and OL...this means you Mehki), another winning draft.....sky's the limit
I have to agree with the OP. I did not know what to expect from the season, the rookies or the team. I just hope for less misery than the last few seasons. We have really hit on this draft and before. We are starting to bare the fruit of that now. Our D has come on leaps and bounds and an amazing turn around. We have some stellar talent on Offence now to build on. they will all get better going into their 2nd year. We have been in every game. And every player and coach is learning. The future looks bright. One more good draft and a couple of key Free agents and we can really challenge. I like Mike White. I think he has it all to be what we need. He has still only started 6 games. I would sign him up and give him they keys. Lets get some more DL and OL in the draft.
As a whole we have a lot to be happy about after the last few years but what I don't get is how this O-line continues to look bad whatever the combination? Brown Tomlinson McGovern Herbig Fant I know they are banged up but with all the injuries this year I'd have thought this was a pretty good group, what do I know they sure didnt look it yesterday.
Well we are what we are…a fringe playoff team one game above .500 at times it has felt way better than that, but it is what it is. We’ve shown we can play with almost anyone, but we’re not yet good enough to win all of those games we’re in. our D has played very well but has also given up drives when we needed a shit down our OL has struggled but looked better with AVT and Breece Hall…still needs to get fixed. We need an answer at QB…right now it’s White, but will he be good enough to be the guy next year? Too early to tell really. Zach has not shown much promise but maybe with another off-season something clicks…I’m not overly optimistic on that but we’ll see. funny to say but we could use another good receiver I think…Moore hasn’t lived up to the hype yet even with White at QB, Davis will make a great catch and then drop a critical throw and seems to get hurt a lot…and Mims is so so…showed some promise but hasn’t really delivered. Maybe they all step up but I wouldn’t cross receiver off the needs list quite yet I think this season has been progress for sure…we are not a laughing stock and we can go toe to toe with most of the teams…great building block year even if we miss out on the playoffs but I think we still have a good shot to make it
i think this is more on mlf calling plays for berrios. get berrios off the field during off, i can def see moore getting more targets
Mike White is a FA next year. He’s already going to get a lot of offers around the league, and if he finishes strong and takes us to the playoffs he’s going to get big offers. I like him a lot, but I’m still uncertain of a future with him. Especially if he is going to cost big money
I usually like your Posts 69 ..but you are being a bit harsh here...and tbh I have been that way at times I see the Team having a real culture / attitude change that they can hang in there with any Team ..so isn't that progress?
I hate to say this buddy, but we are not making the playoffs. We've blown to many opportunities, and our schedule is unfavorable. I was optimistic for the sake of our record when I said we can still make the playoffs, but honestly we won't.
