The Seahawks are decimated. If the Jets do not destroy them, Mangini should be fired. Hasselbeck is most likely out, their o-line is mostly scrubs, and their D is shaky at best.
"The only reason he was not hit more often is because his speed and athleticism allowed him to escape more readily. He likely will have to run even faster against the Jets now that Locklear is out." These kinds of qb's have killed us all year. Just when you think you have the guy bottled up he squirts out and ends up with a big gain. (see Cassel and Hill) IF the weather is bad this could help us in the end because the qb wont be able to make a quick move to escape the pressure. Ellis could have another big game if there is a rook trying to block him.
This is good news, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. Our DLine can't shed blocks and get to the QB and/or collapse the pocket and at least pressure him, so I don't want to go there with high hopes we're gonna get "X" numbers of sacks...even with Seattle's shitty line. I still hope they plan to aggressively attack their OLine as if all their starters were there on the field.
It is very possible that it will be snowing and in the upper 20s during the game with a bit of wind. I don't think it will be heavy snow at this time, but the conditions should make the game boil down to who can run the ball the best. We should come out of this with a win; let me put it this way; we better; no excuses; we are flat-out the better team. The Seahawks will put up a fight though, and if we play like garbage, come out flat as hell, have a retarded game plan, and make really stupid mistakes; we will be able to figure out a way of losing the game.
With the exception of the Rams game, in which we kicked the living dog poop out of them and then continued kicking them some more, our Jets seem to have a weird thing going on with playing most of our games to the lowest common denominator. In other words, if we play an outstanding team, we play up to that caliber. If we play a garbage team, we play down to that level also. It's like we want to keep the games as close as possible. Something needs to be done in the locker room to change that trend. Lose it and we can beat anyone. Don't get rid of it and we're doomed.
This seems to be so true of them this year about playing to the level of talent. Still yet, didn't the Seahawks give the Pats fits when they played them? You can never really look at a team and mark the W because any given Sunday they can surprise you. That said I am feeling more comfortable with the Jets being able to do what needs to be done in this game. They have had a few games now where they have struggled but held on like the 2nd Pats game or even this past week with the Bills. I believe now that they need to they will find a way to win.
No excuses. The Jets better smoke the Hawks.. This is where Ellis could excel if he thinks of them as Sea Weed.
They REALLY have to go out there, execute and gain momentum toward next week's game. This is the week to really need to fine tune where we have been making mistakes. We should get away with a few hiccups this week but will need an excellent performance versus the 'Fish.
a blowout would sure ease everyone's mind on this board for the rest of the week, however I would be happy if we win 2-0. The W is all that matters right now, style points are worthless.
1) Tackling (it stunk last week). 2) Turnovers (Favre: Just Say No). 3) Penalties (No excuses). 4) Pass-rushing and Blitzing (lack of). 5) Special Teams (No more allowing fake punts and/or unretrieved punts for lousy field position).
The pats just won back to back games on the west coast. We need to step up and beat this team. They only have 3 wins.
i love that ellis has brought out every possible reference to smoking weed the last week. the papers are all over it.
If the Jets dline cant prove you wrong they dont deserve to be in the playoffs because they will get stomped. If you cant pressure the QB you wont win. Especially with guys like Manning, Cutler in the playoffs. The Jets better get at least 4-5 sacks this week against this hawks piss poor patch offense.
