Mangini in his press conference didn't indicate that Chad is his starter, he said he hasn't made a decision. I feel like this is good news. He might be doing the same thing he did in the Ravens game and not let anyone know who the starter is. Thoughts?
Chad didn't play any worse this game than any other, so if his play in the other games didn't warrant a change, why would it now? doing so would only exemplify either Mangini's ability to make personnel decisions or his ability to guage player performance. the point is, sticking with Chad this long makes Mangini look incompetent, and benching him this late only magnifies it.
Thats what the change to Clemens would be about. Gauging his performance to determine where exactly he fits into the long term plans of the franchise. It would suck to find out that Clemens is no better than a career back-up, it would be even worse to find out that fact after the upcoming draft.
Put in Clemens This team is not going anywhere, and Chad had many chances to come back in the game which he didnt do. Defenses know he has no big arm, so it pts more people in the box to stifle the running game. Put in Clemens. It an't get any worse and at least we can see what he's got. The Jets will have a better idea of how to put this team together knowing Clemens will play next year...Not Chad.
