One of the teams we face (or more) get knocked on their butt with covid, and we win. This could happen to the jags as well, but we are the J E T S after all.
Been thinking about this lately too. What if one team forfeits but we forfeit too? Is it a tie? Both teams get a loss? If it looks like we're going to face a QB-less team because of covid I'm not opposed to ol Joe Douglas paying Sam/Flacco on the side to "get covid" for the week.
I could see some of the games late in the season being cancelled because of covid and the fact they do not matter to the standings. Then the league come in with a lottery system in the draft to offset the number of games played by teams for the draft. Despite having the worst record in the NFL we could be like the Knicks
To add to this, and I could easily see the spread of COVID throughout the NFL costing us the #1 pick (although, it should go without saying, that the health and safety of everyone is paramount over that). Another nightmare scenario that I've been starting to think about in recent days is Woody coming back from the UK and, in an effort to exert his control over the franchise, totally cleans house, sending Joe Douglas packing along with Gase. The duo over Lawrence and Douglas could be enough to finally pull us out of this nightmare, and you just have to figure that someone within the organization is going to find a way to screw it up in absolutely epic fashion.
I think that would be a scenario where two of the Jets' most maddening tendencies would collide. Only the Jets could lose to a team that didn't have a QB, but at the same time, this would be the situation that could present itself that would allow for this team to do what they do best and win a completely meaningless game with a draft pick on the line.
Lol too much time on y’all hands. Legit have not had a cancellation so far (luckily)...the Jets have been up there in terms of keeping the virus out of the team too.
Cant rule out the possibility of the season ending short, but I don’t think it will happen. I highly doubt the NFL would institute a lottery, either. This isn’t the NBA where 1 player can turn you into a contender overnight. To add to that, the NFL stands to make way more money off of Lawrence in NY than they do if he’s in Jax. We’re not the only people hoping we get the #1. Record be damned, I think a lot of people outside of the fans and the organization have faith that Joe Douglas will make the Jets competitive again.
We can't miss out on the #1 pick with a .000 winning percentage. Darnold will make sure we don't win a game. Flacco might jeopardize that. He's already tried. I wouldn't rule out the Jags possibly getting another game. Those guys play hard. Lost to the Packers at Lambeau by 4 and lost on a missed 2PT conversion to the Browns last week.
The only way to combat this is to go aggressive and start our own COVID party at Florham Park immediately. Use Loggains as a super-spreader.
Here's a REAL nightmare scenario: We suffer the humiliation of going 0-16 and draft Trevor Lawrence who ends up being a semi-bust like so many other 'generational college QBs', and all of Joe Douglas' other draft picks suck too. We go 2-14 in Trevor's third season, and DWC starts his fourth I WAS WRONG...CUT TREVOR!!! thread in the same day
If only a couple of teams have Covid issues, the NFL will do what's it's been doing: reschedule the games and keep the 16 game schedule. But if it spreads to more than a few, I think they'll cancel the rest of the season, perhaps scheduling a tie-breaker or "wild card" game to decides which teams make the playoffs, or maybe they'll even expand the number of teams rather than eliminate them. In any case, they'll allow the traditional draft selection order remain. If the Jets go winless and don't get the #1 pick, then it's blindingly clear that there is a league bias against them.
My nightmare scenario is Russel Wilson gets knocked out from whatever reason. The Jets then face an historically bad Seattle defense and Geno Smith running the offense. It will then be up to Geno to beat the Jets and send us to the Trevor Lawrence promise land. That seems like quite a scary scenario to me and so Jets like.
