Did anyone hear anything on what happened to Nick Mangold yesterday. I know he had to come out of the game for a few plays and then returned, but I haven't heard what kind of injury, if any, he sustained. Seeing him on the ground, being attended to by the trainers, was not a good feeling.
He seems to do this about 3 times a year, I think he just wants to bait the announcers into mentioning his name so he can make the Pro Bowl again.
I have no info but as you said he went back in the game and he's yet to miss a game. Guy is tough as hell and I'm sure he'll be ready to go next week.
In one of the article online today they mention Nick. He claims he was hit in the stomach pretty hard and it took the wind out of him. Went to the sidelines to catch his breath.
He tweeted yesterday evening that he's fine. I did shit my pants when he didn't get up for a while though.
I thought he missed two plays but... For all the love Thomas Jones deservedly gets, imo Mangold is the guy the Jets could least afford to lose on O. Sanchez needs the stability of dealing with Mangold who, after all, is the best lineman, and it's a pretty steep drop to Nick's replacement.
Good thing about Mangold's injury: We know that Matt Slauson can deliver two consecutive snaps without royally fucking up. Seriously, out of the last three OL we have drafted I think Slauson is the only one to actually see the field.
^ Turner and Hunter see time at the TE position as the other tackle in the run game. I know they've gotten maybe one snap in place of Woody or someone else. Our OL is blessed. There is no other word. Lucky is an understatement.
Yeah I was watching the replay trying to see where he got hit or what happened. I was surprised to see him go down because he's one tough mofo.
I don't think we drafted Hunter or Turner...I know we drafted Jacob Bender a couple of years ago, and he was awful.
oh yeah, that's right we didn't. my bad. Then I'll say that all the backups have seen time on the line this year to save face.....high five.
I think Nick's back was to the camera on the replay they showed, so if he got the wind knocked out of him, it might not have been visible. What the announcers pointed to was Faneca seeming to step on his foot, but apparently that's not what was bothering him.
When I saw the replay, it looked like someone had stepped on his ankle and it turned it a bit. But the consensus seems to be he either took a shot to his nuts or got the wind knocked outta him. Either way, I'm glad to know he's okay.
