Normally if there's a sellout home game (Jets at 4:15), no game can be shown against it. The NFL, however, has waived the block this week, so Washington-Dallas will be shown against the Jets game. In New York City, Buffalo-Philly and Detroit-Green Bay will be shown at 1, and the late games will be Jets-Chiefs and Dallas-Washington. Maybe this is a makeup to FOX, which got screwed when the NFL gave the Patriots game to CBS and NBC for free.
it would make sense, because FOX justifiably was ticked that NBC and CBS got the game free for some reason, and they didn't.
I would think not, at least locally. FOX is getting the other game. CBS isn't changing it. Doesn't CBS broadcast all Jets games in this area?
They're throwing Fox a bone, and it works out nice for us in the northeast. They're giving us double-headers on both CBS and Fox this Sunday. 1pm- Jags vs Texans (CBS) 1pm- Packers vs Lions (Fox) 4pm- Steelers vs Ravens (CBS) 4pm- Cowboys vs Redskins (Fox)
doesn't matter. neither team really had the rights. The AFC thing doesn't make it a CBS game unless that's a Sunday afternoon game. CBS has no claim to a prime time game. NBC supposedly is the exclusive provider of broadcast primetime NFL games, so they'd be first in line for this kind of thing.
no. If we host an NFC team, FOX has the rights and the game is on FOX. Of course, 12 of 16 games each season are AFC games, and 2 of the NFC games would generally be on the road.
they gave 3 cities that wouldn't have been able to see the redskins game, the ability to see it. In NYC we get buffalo-philly and gb-detroit early and then jets-chiefs and cowboys-redskins late. Very rare event for NYC to get two doubleheaders.
I am in Canada and it's great. We get games on CTV, TSN and we are still close enough to the border to get Seattle's CBS and Fox stations. So Im getting 9 games tommorrowhmy: Sadly Im still not getting the Jets
I was in Canada over New Years in 2003 (i think) when the Jets beat the Packers the last week of the season. I thoroughly enjoyed watching so many NFL games that weekend since there were about 7 teams fighting for two playoff spots up until that final weekend.
I remember watching DirecTV that weekend and watching the Pats fuck over the Phins and switching over to CBS to witness a completely out of control Meadowlands crowd followed by the Jets cornholing the Packers to get into the playoffs. Those were the days.
