Can someone explain to me why out of all the weeks in the season, this happens before the Pats game? This incident happened almost a year ago, and he has to serve it against the Pats? This is beyong coincidence. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...5nYcB?slug=ap-bears-manning&prov=ap&type=lgns
Because everyone wants the Jets to fail, as part of an intricate plot involving Area 51, the JFK assassination, and the list of KFC herbs and spices.
Rivers hasn't shown me that he's anything special yet either. It would be a lot easier for Manning to not suck with Tomlinson on his side.
yea cause that tiki barber guy really sucks...... rivers looks a lot better than manning, but we'll see in about 3 years
Barber great, Burress lazy P.O.S. Neither of them is the best player in the league. Tomlinson is. So lets not crown Rivers' ass just yet.
rivers looks better throwing the ball than manning does -- Tiki was the leading rusher in the NFL and Burress and Shockey are top tier players when they want to be -- Watching Manning against the Jags I saw a QB that looked lost on the field....he would have been better off sitting 2 years and learning the game -- he looked gun shy out there -- the giants traded for the Manning name and that is what they got - a name the ricky maning suspension isn't big as long as the bears get pressure on Brady and stop the run
I'm quite surprised they didn't appeal this until the Bears clinched the NFC top seed, then let him serve the suspension in a nothing game. I guess they feel they already have the NFC wrapped up. Too bad for us.
Look, I'm not a Manning apologist, but I'm not hanging out on his front lawn with torches and a pitchfork (kind of like most of you guys and Chadwick) either. My only point is this: right now, I think the Chargers have the better, more well-rounded team. Tomlinson is the best player in the league right now, Gates is just as talented as Shockey, but keeps his head in the game, and San Diego doesn't have the injury problems that the Giants have right now. Rivers has played a whopping 10 career games and has excelled, no doubt, but he hasn't had to do too much. Outside of tremendous games against the JV pass defenses of Cincinnati and San Francisco, all he's done is not make mistakes. Certainly, you can't hold that against a guy, but he's not a golden god just yet. As for Manning, well, he really has been a puzzling player. Jekyll and Hyde. The flashes he's shown sometimes, displaying outstanding poise, tremendous talent, and leadership when it counts the most. It can be wonderful to watch. And then he'll fall into ruts like this, and it's just dumbfounding. He looks like a little kid, out of his depth. Making terrible decisions, boneheaded plays, getting rattled by everything. It doesn't make sense. Add to this the fact that he's missing the heart of his receiving corps, has a blindside being "protected" by Bob Fucking Whitfield, and his team's defense is reeling from injuries, and it's a recipe for a total collapse. Needless to say, it's much, much too early to compare these guys. Case in point, Ben Roethlisberger. People were talking about how Ben was the big winner, Super Bowl Champ, rising above the two "glamor" QBs taken ahead of him. Now he's averaging almost 2 picks a game. Edit: Oh, and how the hell did this happen in a thread about Ricky Manning? Nice one GM, you'd think the mods would be able to stay on topic.
No, it was much too early to compare the three back in 2004 and 2005. As a huge Philip Rivers backer, I kept having to tell people last year and the year before that, "Just wait till Rivers gets on the field." It is best not to evaluate and compare draft picks till at least their third year in the league. Making the comparisons right now seems just about right. Of course, another two years down the road and it will really be solid.
