Just reported the Ravens received a tip that the Jets were trying to move up to get Flaco, so they made the move to beat us to him. If this is true then so much for faith in Kellen Clemens.
Me too, I like the picks we made, I'm just saying I do not think the FO has as much faith in KC as the draft may seem to say, especially with this news and the fact that Mangini has not stated who the starter is. With this info my money is on CP.
NYJ made a run for Joe Flacco??? According to NFL Network, Baltimore traded back to #26 to get Flacco but got a tip that the NYJ were trying to trade up to get him before #26. Baltimore then traded back up to #18 to get him... Take it for what it's worth. Just saw it 5 minutes ago.
I'm probably the only one that thinks Chad still has a chance. With this new O-line...and added defense...we're going at LEAST 10 wins this season...WILDCARD PLEASE
Yeah, I think the FO's faith in Clemens is next to nill right now I suspect Chad will win the QB competition in camp
Hogwash.... I'm sure the FO was blowing smoke up this persons ass. The Ravens bought and grabbed a guy that I think has bust all over. He played awful against real competition and his big arm can only get him so far. He is no Big Ben...... At least being from New Jersey his family can drive to Baltimore and watch him be a bust. Not for anything but the guy got beat out by Tyler Palko for the Pitt job. Where is Tyler Palko now? Through in he was a Dave Wanstadt recruit originally and I think you've got your answer on Flacco.
Is it coincidence our guy Gholston is knocking the crap out of the Fins' Henne in your avatar? :finssuck: I am not really gonna comment on the Clemens-Pennington situation, mostly because so many reports tell so many things about it, I basically gave up trying to decode Tangini's motives....
I thought Flacco tore it up in the senior bowl. Thats about as good as it gets for college level competition.
Hehe I was looking for a new av with Gholston and I conveniently found the one where he's knocking the crap out of Henne. I hope we see that happening many, many times in the next years
Theres something called a smokescreen.......... It worked I guess if it made BAL trade up and everything. Clemens was taken by Tangini so he still is well thought of by the management I'd imagine.
So the Jets brass had nothing really to do all day and they got bored. So they all decide to throw in 5 bucks, and whoever gets the Ravens to trade up after traing down, wins the money
Why would they go out of their way to throw up a smoke-screen for Baltimore of all teams? You throw up smoke-screens to get something out of the deception i.e. pretend you have interest in a player and then get a team to trade up and take him. You don't mess with teams for no reason- that gets a GM a horrible reputation in the league. I seriously doubt that this was a smoke-screen. Tell me what the Jets gain by doing this.
I seriously doubt this means that after 2 years(1 year of starting), that magically Clemens is under fire and thrown into the garbage bin though. They invested a 2nd round pick afterall with this same management. I do think Jets may have wanted to get in that range, maybe for a guy like Mendenhall but I seriously doubt Flacco....Just because we pick before BAL in the 2nd round and if we wanted him so badly, we would have snatched him then and there.
I Actually liked Flacco so its a little dissapointing we tried to get him but didnt. W/e but it makes you really wonder what this F.O. thinks of Clemens or Penny.
I always believed chad was going to be the starter at the beginning of the season. mangini would never have said it would be an open competition, in training camp, if that were not the case. we're building this team to make a run in the immediate future(1 to 2 yrs). the CS knows chad gives us the best chance to win. i think we should have drafted henne, and groomed him to take over in 2 years. the kids not as big a project as flacco would have been. chad and clemons could have battled it out for the next 2 years, and when chad finally hangs it up, clemons would serve as henne's back up. now we have the fuckin' dull-phins getting thier QB of the future, and we're left with mediocrity.
It was more than just a tip. They announced it on ESPN that the Jets were trying to trade back into the first round at 26 to take him.
