I'm already worried about the Jets lack of weapons on offense. Combined with what appears to be another Sanchez year as starter, this isn't great news. He's certainly not great, but he's amongst the best they have. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...o-holmes-no-schedule-for-new-york-jets-return
this isn't news at all. all the evidence points to the fact that the f.o. knew he wouldn't be set for day 1 of t.c. i am not worried about this too much. he starts on the pup and will be ready by preseason week 4
No matter what, we won't be worse off than last year. Kerley and Hill have another year on their belt and we got that one UDFA who I expect to make the team..I forget his name. I would love to pick up someone in FA, though.
He won't be ready Week 1 IMO. We need to get a vet WR who actually did something. Obamonu or whatever his name is is not the answer
Depending on the outcome of training camp, if one of the young WR doesn't steal the #3 or #4 spot with a very strong showing, I am convinced Idzick picks up a solid but under the radar vet WR for insurance. I would also guess that they might pick up another TE and may be even an OLB for depth depending on the training camp evaluation. I do agree that the STRENGHT of this offense will be the running game, screens, and outlet passes to the RBs. I said it before, watch out for Mcnight this year.
The combination of Ivory and Goodson can be a strong back-field. If we go run heavy, Ivory can top 1200 yards, Goodson could prob get 500 rushing yards and maybe even 350-500 receiving yards. I hope we can get the screen game going. Don't forget Kerley who had just as many receiving yards as Mike Wallace last season.
Yeah, Goodson can too, I was just trying to say that hopefully our new RB's will be able to catch the ball better than the last few seasons. I honestly did not know how many catches Ivory had.
Wow, did not think he had that little of catches. I wonder if he can actually catch though... The Saints do have the best pass-catch RB in the league so it may not be a direct correlation to how he can actually contribute in the passing game.
That can definitely factor into it. I don't know his number of targets, but it can't be too high considering the Saints' loaded back field. Right now I consider his ball catching ability an unknown as opposed to a detriment.
There's really nothing on tape that suggests he lacks the ability to catch...but who knows? How often does a 4th string RB have passes thrown his way during games? You gotta like this kids skills. He's quick to the hole, powerful & explosive. The bigger question is if he can stay healthy & if the Oline can open holes for him.
Right now Holmes is day to day. He can't put full weight on it or make hard cuts. We'll see what happens. Yeah a Revis vs Holmes matchup in week one would be pretty epic. They'd both be fresh off injuries looking hungry. I don't think Holmes can hang with Revis, though.
Both Revis and Holmes will be day to day by game one. I don't think that will be the key match up at all.
Lets be serious Holmes doesn't stand a chance in hell against Revis. Even if they were both fully healthy.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I would have liked to see a little fire in those Holmes quotes,,,,,,how about " I cannot wait to get back on the field " or " I am doing all I can to get back to football shape and it's up to the docs when I can pay" or " it killed me to sit and watch last year , I will do all I can to get back with the team hopefully that is soon " I realize the guy had a serious injury and he is rehabbing but he just always comes across as a me guy,,,,,,
Unfortunately, I recently broke my foot so I've been doing alot of reading on foot injuries..... There's a good chance he's fucked give the nature of his injury, hence the lack of "fire" in his quotes (but I do agree with the "me-guy" regardless)
