There are rumors the NFL wants to buy or buy a stake in ESPN

say what you want about the current state of ESPN but this would be the death of sports journalism. We wouldn’t get any critical reporting anymore or any discussion of difficult topics

Last year when Hamlin got hurt NFL network buried the reporting, things like that would be common

So then they'll own TWO shitty TV stations?!? I mean these clowns can't even do a good job covering their own sport (and that's probably what would motivate a move like that to happen)

I quit paying for cable a along time ago, and only really watch the actual games for the most part as most of it is already just white noise, but I'll take Mickey over Lord Goodell 10 times out of ten....

It would be fitting. They have been moving to go flag football for like a decade now.

How is that legally possible? ESPN now has their own sportsbook which in its own right should be illegal given the fact that they literally own the CFP and 75% of bowl season.

I will say though, ESPN’s programming output is the worst on all of TV. I actually like what NFL Network puts out with Good Morning Football. I watch maybe 45 mins of it throughout the morning in the background while I’m working and it’s entertaining. ESPN is utterly unwatchable.

It really is terrible content. If you asked someone to parody what sports networks are now, they would have trouble beating the reality of what ESPN offers on its daily programming. If it wasn't for the sports events offered and the actual journalistic content that is almost exclusively provided by the local affiliates, there would be no real value at all.

And the sports events are deteriorating even faster.
