This morning on SportsCenter they had 2 writers who had votes for the Heisman. One was vehemently for Newton and the other was against. The one that was for was condescending towards the other guy, it was great stuff.

Newton deserved to win and I'm glad he did.

I'm watching 30 for 30 pony excess about SMU mustangs football paying for players. It's just so great to see how far the game has come.

^ Keep that shit out of this thread. Go start a 30 for 30 thread in the Bullshit forum or better yet, get back in the kitchen.

Cam Newton deserved this award. It's not a coincidence that the vote was so lopsided.

I'm happy that he won the award. I got the chance to see him play in person and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen...too bad it was against my team.

Wow what any unnecessary nasty reply. I would have written up some intelligent response, but the "get back in the kitchen" comment showed to me that you're an ignorant asshole, who doesn't deserve my time. Fortunately douchebags like yourself seem to be in the minority on this board.

I understand what you were trying to do with that post and it was stupid. Cam Newton was cleared to play, now leave it alone.

It was unnecessary and ignorant to make a statement about players receiving pay in a thread about the Heisman. I was simply returning the favor.

You might want to look up what the word ignorant means. It's not stupid or ignorant to make a comment about players receiving pay in a thread about the Heisman, when said Heisman trophy winner is a player who in fact received money. You think Cam Newton deserved to win the Heisman that fine. I just happen to disagree. You have a right to your opinion, as do I. People should be able to respectfully disagree with each other. If you can't see how you went about expressing your opinion in the wrong way, and maybe be a man & apologize then I guess there's nothing else we have to say to each other.

So Newton won by a landslide, but you know there were some dickhead voters who voted for somebody else because of the investigation....really makes you wonder if he could have won by a historic margin had he not had this hanging over him.

They said 105 voters left him off the ballot completely, and that 93% of the voters that had him on the ballot put him #1. If those 105 voters put him in going at the same clip, he'd have had the 2nd biggest margin of victory ever. Considering there was more votes at the time of OJ's win, he might have beaten out Troy Smith for highest points in relation to votes.

You have no idea what you're talking about. That makes you ignorant.

The NCAA deemed Cam Newton eligible to play college football, clearing him of any wrong doing.

I'm not going to "respectfully disagree" with someone that obviously has no clue what they're talking about.

Name a player on that ballot that's better than Cameron Newton. You can't. The voter's were right tonight.

This isn't for Mr Electric cause I'm done with that clown. This is just about Cam Newton in general. The NCAA found in it's investigation that Newton’s dad did take part in a pay for play scheme to attend Mississippi State. I think most people were laughing at the NCAA ruling on this matter. I as well as anyone with any common sense find it hard to believe that Cam didn't know what was going on. I think most people feel like this is a time being situation. Year(s) from now he's gonna have it taken away. He was the best player in college, I agree. If performance on the field is all one cares about that's fine, but there's more too it. The Heisman trophy is suppose to be for an “outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. That does not equal Cam Newton IMHO. Cheating scandal, stolen lap top, and pay for play. That does not equal a man deserving of a Heisman trophy. Just out of curiosity. For those who support Cam as the winner do you think he did know about the pay scheme, but you just don't think it should matter? You only care about his performance on the field? That's fine just curious about people take on it.

Cam Newton is the best player in the country. He now has a Heisman trophy to take home and put on his mantle.

I don't give a god damn if his dad tried to exploit him for money or if he bought a laptop from a kid that stole it, he's the best player in all of college football. That's what this award is about.

No one was more dominant than Cam Newton this year. That's why the he received so many votes.

It doesn't matter if he knew about his father's mistakes or not. The NCAA cleared him - I don't understand why you can't get this through your head?

This clown wants sandwich, so like I said before: you and your ignorance need to get back in the kitchen.

I don't think the Ncaa should have cleared him. Why can't you get that through your head? I hope he does enjoy his temporary custody of the Heisman Trophy. I'm starting to get mad at myself for even bothering with you. I guess it's human nature. Who really likes to let someone else have the last word. Go on though. Go make yourself that sandwich. I strongly don't you have a woman in your life that gonna make it for a misogynist like yourself. Well unless your mom makes it for you. Oh, and if you did manage to somehow get yourself a girlfriend/wife/boyfriend I send he or she my condolences. It's 1:50 am here, and with that I'm going get into bed with the love of my life. I will follow your advice when we wake. I'll get in kitchen & I'll make him breakfast. Goodnight.

I read about half of that and then realized that I was arguing with a woman about football.

‎2 best lines from Cam Newton's acceptance speech:
    1. (To his mother) This is an award that has been won ever since I came out your womb.
    2. (Paraphrased) Thank to my mom and dad. They do a bunch of things behind the scenes that nobody sees, but they were so important in getting me where I am today.

Yeah, I was laughing when I heard #2. He really should have worded that one better.

He won the award because he hasn't been found to have any involvement in the payment scandal. Might he have? Sure, but it's not the voters only know what's been in the media, most have done absolutely no research on their own. The NCAA has investigated it and haven't yet found anything absolutely linking him to getting payments. They might eventually find something and take it away, but at this point, NOT voting for Cam is basically going by limited information and calling the kid a liar.

BTW, LaMichael James was arrested last year and spent some time in jail less than a year ago. If Cam was left off of ballots because of buying a stolen laptop or cheating then James should have been too. That said, he was a victim of a really bad situation, and those who don't look into the case and just take what the media said would have a much harsher opinion. He served ten days after four of the five charges were dropped, and the one charge was based on stopping an ex-girlfriend who stole his keys.

The voters probably felt embarrassed by the whole Reggie Bush thing even though they really shouldn't have, just like the rest of the world they didn't know anything and it was the NCAA's job to find out what was going on.

Exactly. The voters are supposed to go on what's known about the players and what they do on the field. They didn't really know all that much about the Cam Newton situation, they just dropped him off of the list based on the word of the media and a bunch of really shady people pointing fingers. He could very well end up in trouble, but what I know is that the NCAA cleared him to play this season. That should have had a lot more weight in the minds of those 105 voters than it did.
