I wasn't thrilled with the Barlow acquisitition, but the Jet's (Pennington & Martin) seem really happy to have him on board. Lets' hope CM keeps a close eye on Barlow, I bet Mangini has Curtis shawdowing him and helping him get use to the Offense. Lets' at least give Barlow a chance to perform......the Jury's out. Also, the 2nd rd pick seems bogus.....it looks like a 4th rd pick. http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/ny-spjets0822,0,5026911.story?coll=ny-jets-print
I really don't know about this one. He's really done nothing with SF, but in his defense, their O line has been a laughing stock for many years.
Hopefully the change of scenery will be healthy for for Kevan. Not sure how you deduced the pick. But the Kevan Barlow era is upon us. Certainly, I am all for giving him a chance to prove himself. And hopefully he proves well worth whatever pick we gave up. But, I hope this does not preclude us from looking long and hard at a stud RB in next year's draft. Particularly if we are in a position to draft Adrian Peterson. But yes. Lets see what we have before looking to April.
I haven't heard a word about Curtis since he spoke 10 days or so ago. Does this move mean he's done, or is Mangini unhappy with Houston or Blaylock?? When you hear that the Jets have called a press conference, or put it this way, what's the over under on days when the Curtis retirement press conference is announced? 5? ....and as it gets closer to the season, won't that kind of bum out the team going into the opener? What's he doing, Curtis? This is so weird with him already. S**t, or get off the pot, Curtis!
Barlow for a #4 is a good deal. A #2, I woulda been disappointed, but for a #4 theres no reason to not like this deal. He might not be the starter here for the next decade, but we should get a couple years contribution out of him at least... and honestly, he was supposed to be the next big thing in San Francisco after Heart left, and then the whole team fell apart. This guy definetely has some upside, and at the very least he gives us a serviceable option with some experience for this season.
Is it me or does Kevan Barlow remind anyone of Corey Dillon? Dillon was a "cancer" in the locker room before he became a Patriot...perhaps Barlow with good coaching can become a nice RB for the next 3-4 years.
Theres a big difference...Dillon was still a great RB as a Bengal, with 6 1100+ yard seasons his first 6 years, Barlow hasn't had nearly the same amount of success as a Niner as Dillon had as a Bengal.
I never said that he statistically reminded me of Corey Dillon...My post clearly illustrates that I was comparing them as two players who were known for their issues in the locker room.
If he's not ready to play by the opening weekend then they'll probably keep him on the PUP list. That will give him 6 more weeks (i think) before he can come back and play. After that they have to make a determination wether he's goes to the IR, plays, or retires. I don't think we'll see a decision made until after the season starts. IMO
I said that in another thread penny. I totaly agree with you, cant believe I said that after all of that Cutler crap you were spewing before the draft, but man he runs with power and has some agility as well. Like the move alot better than the Duckett idea.
Hey now, I liked and still like Cutler as a pro QB, but I did narrow it down to three guys I wanted at the 4th spot before the draft and he wasn't one of them. I am glad we finally agree on something though.
I said it before and I will say it again....Martin and Barlow are Pitt grads.... I really think the connection will help.
 For a 4th rounder its about right. I like this trade a whole lot better than the Suggs one. I will be watching to see how Suggs gets on , if he plays I'm sure hes going to be on the PUP soon. Barlow seems durable though ,and has been mentioned the Pitt connection with CMart is a good thing too. Lets get behind him and give him some support.:jets:
I don't like this trade as much as the suggs deal lol, but i have softened my stance on losing the 4th rounder. We got a guy who can pass block and has the ability to be an everydown back; and on top of it he should be in the prime of his career given his age. He should contribute immediately and as long as he doesn't turn intot he immature player he was in San Fran this should look like a great deal.
