New York - New Jersey

I grew up on Long Island, lived in Brooklyn when I got married then eventually moved to northern NJ where my wife grew up when we started having kids.

I think New Yorkers look down on every other city/region but it's just so easy to dump on NJ right across the river.

Now that I've been living in NJ for many years, don't really care what "NYers" think, although I still consider myself a NYer.

NYers have a superiority complex. Unfounded, really.

I never got it but I grew up in south Jersey near Philly, where everybody in NJ has a superiority complex over the people across the river

 

Brooklyn is not NY

 

As a Buckeye, let me weigh in.


NJ is a great state.

What's that old joke: " You live in Jersey.. What exit?" (insert rimshot here..)

 

Nothing wrong with Jersey. But if it weren't for a particularly large urban area in the state right next door, it would have one tenth its current population density. probably would be a great improvement.

Plus, as has been said, NYer's think they are living in the center of the universe.

 

Ha. Where I live, the way to insult somebody is to ask him what part of Massachusetts he lives in.

I knew a few that thought anything west of the Delaware River was the wild west.

 

Only been to Jersey on a stop over at the airport when I was 18. Still want to vacay in NY someday and catch a Yankees and Jets game.

 

Born in brooklyn, grew up in Staten island, living in NJ past few years.

NYers have a fear of bridges (except when going to Atlantic City) and compensate with NJ bashing.
