Jets | Baker re-signed Fri, 24 Mar 2006 15:17:46 -0800 The New York Jets have announced the team has re-signed free agent TE Chris Baker (Jets). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
So no Davis huh. After seeing the D'brick quote I really don't think Ill be dissapointed by any one we get at # 4 or even #2 Between Dbrick, Super Mario, AJ Hawk, Cutler, Leinart, Young. All Ill be happy with
heh, its not like baker had many choices, we might have gotten him at our price which is good since he hasnt done much yet (granted he got injured last season but you can't ever say well this would have happened)
Finally some good news, if Baker hadn't gotten hurt he probably would've finished with top-10 TE numbers, and has potential as shown in the Chiefs game. Good job by Tangini to get him back.
Another need put to rest... Along with all the talk of Vernon Davis. Chris Baker- Doug Jolley- Joel Dreessen... That's certainly sufficient in my book.
baker is no where close to vernon davis.. however, his resigning does hurt the chances of us drafting davis.. just like the resigning of pennington and addition of ramsey negates our need at QB, and the signing of von oelhoffen and switching to a 3-4 defense negates our need at DE, there is little chance we get davis with baker, jolley, and dressen on the roster.. drafting a RB looks slim too since we have martin/blaylock/houston.. we have a lot of players at each of these positions but our problem is that we have no real playmaker (chad is hurt, martin is old, and our TEs are average).. i really was pushing for a davis and d. williams draft since that would give us 2 superstars at their respective positions and give us a chance for some offensive firepower.. with runyan signing with the eagles, our OL needs some major help so it may be dbrick at 4 and mangold at 29.. god i hate that pick of dbrick at 4 considering a pick that high should be used for a playmaker or used to trade down to get multiple playmakers...
He needs to be more consistent as a receiver. Other than the Chiefs game, he was non-existant up until his injury.
I think he'll be fine as long as the coaches know how to use him. I didn't want to waste a draft pick on a TE when there were so many other needs.
Mine too, I think Dreessen can develop into a solid TE. I liked what I saw in the little time he played last year.
Yes. That's where we would cut the dead weight. If we traded down, and he was there (and the best available player), I don't know they would definately pass him up. (They may actually look to trade down again at that point). I'm not saying we WILL draft him. Just saying I wouldn't be shocked (or angry for that matter) if we did.
Although I would still love Vernon Davis, I will drop it because it is no longer a need because I think Baker is at the least an average starter.
Here is NewYorkJets.com's very elaborate article about it: http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/index.php?content_id=2602 Yes, that is literally their entire article.
can we please stop with the vernon davis talks its alluxiury we have to many holes to fix and i would be surprised if we draft a te at all this year
Tangini will draft by logic.....so plan on getting in the top two picks o-line......d'brick....mangold......justice d-line......williams linebackers.....Hawk.... we might drop down a couple of spots and pick up some late rounders for more depth......
Davis Is Out, I Say We Go With The O-line And A Good Rb Like Williams, Addai, Maroney........for Start
