http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...4529315/photos-new-syracuse-football-uniforms New Syracuse uniforms. I am starting to hate Nike right about now. I get trying to be edgy and the helmets are fine, not sure I understand a grey uniform, the all blue looks ok, wish they had orange pants but WTF is with the numbers? They look stupid. Why does Nike feel like they have to "fix" everything. I'm firing off a stern letter to Dr. Gross right now. _
Drives me crazy, that and the obsession with "alternate" jerseys. I get they want product but isn't there a saturation level? _
I just read that the elongated numerals are meant to symbolize the tall skyscrapers of NYC. And here I was I thinking they were designed by school children with crayons that had not yet had their Ritalin. Also the lack of any discernible Orange on a team nicknamed the Orange is brilliant. Man those Nike guys have it all figured out. Next up, the Cornell Big Red in simple black and white. _
do they know they are nowhere near NYC? I get the whole "New York's college Team" attempt but they still are nowhere near NYC.
I don't understand the obsession with NYC. I get that we're New York's college team--there are no other major college sports programs in NY really--but NYC is not a college football town. We're not competing with the NFL, MLB, NBA and the NHL. College football is maybe distant 8th in terms of sports and that's only because of folks wanting to keep up with their OWN college team, or the major programs. It's just silly. _
I was kidding about the letter, Dr. Gross and I have communicated in the past. Truth be told, the new recruits love the uniforms, a bunch of them suggested the new threads were a huge selling point. _
Dude, Nike is shameless. Those elongated numerals in reality just symbolize dollar signs. Elongated ones.
They are starting to grow on my son and some of his friends up there--the current uniforms were just too old-fashioned to catch the kids eye, I guess. The school has said they are going to come out with an alternative orange jersey and they'll be adding orange pants soon, so some of the criticism of the lack of orange is starting to fade. They still don't dig the numbers, I just don't understand why Nike needs to go full stupid on some of these designs. You put normal numbers there and I could live with them. Now it's just embarrassing. _
How do you hate Syracuse, we blow. Haven't been relevant since McNabb left. I would think pity is more appropriate. But the kids do seem to like them. I weep for the children. _
Not so much hate in that aspect. My college roommates were absurd Cuse fans, got on my nerves to no end since we went to a different college completely.
Syracuse should go back to its roots and re-adopt their original colors of rose pink and pea green. You wear a football get-up in those colors, you're truly badasss+1. ~Syracuse Alma Mater~ Where the vale of Onondaga Meets the Oregon $ky Proudly $tands our Alma Mater On her hilltop high. Flag we love! Orange! Float for aye- Old $yracuse, o’er thee, Loyal be thy $ons and daughters To the brand NIKE!!! Regarding the (in bold) statement above, I would agree with with respect to college football but if it were to include St. John's hoops, no. SJU may not be gazillion-dollar, state-U budget huge but it is legit D-1 in hoops. Used to hate G'town and would always root for 'Cuse over them. But they're still part of the Big East so now I hate ACC-U-later-Syracuse...
