Not the worst back-up QB you can have. Career 30 touchdowns, 24 interceptions. Learned behind Peyton Manning in 2015. Backed up Kirk Cousins in Minnesota last year. Was a solid starter for the Broncos in 2016 and 2017. Not great, not horrendous. He can win you some games while Darnold is OUT. The problem is the schedule: Week 2: vs Browns Week 3 at Patriots Week 4 BYE Week 5 at Eagles Week 6 vs Cowboys Week 7 vs Patriots Many people said it would be tough for Sam, so it will be brutal for a back-up QB like Siemian. If they can somehow win 2 games, and head into Week 8 at (2-5), Sam could still save the season with that weak schedule. Not impossible.
1-5 or 2-4 going into this is what most expected anyways. People were saying that 3-3 after 6 games (week 7) and we would be a playoff team. @ Jax @ Miami Giants @ Washington Oakland @ Cinci Miami
Not impossible, but highly unlikely. His best chance for a win is against the Browns. After that the Cowboys. I give him no chance vs the Eagles or Patriots. I think we're realistically looking at 0-6 or worse when Sam comes back.
I more worried about the rest of the team. Quincy - neck Quinnen - ankle Mosely - groin Bell - shoulder Trumaine - hamstring Robbie - calf Leo - fat Demaryius Thomas - hamstring
The situation is dire Acad. it’s time for the team to dig deep, and to nut up like Antonio Brown on a non-consenting back! May Cleveland be that back! (Too soon?)
It will be hard to top Darnold's 2018 game against the Browns. 15 completions, 2 Ints and 19 game losing streak broken!
He's got 24 games as a pro so he knows how to play. The bigger problem is Gase's offense and the execution of the players around him, especially the OL and receivers. Added to that is the availability and health of Bell. Siemien is not the biggest issue.
The way Sam played last game--it wouldn't be losing much. He has a long way to go to prove he is the QB we are all desperately hoping he will be.
The chances are he played like that due to having the illness, it won't have just appeared overnight.
